Mastitis! UGH!

Well, Avery slept so well last night, and I didn't even get to take advantage of it. I woke up at 3 am freezing cold and couldn't get warm. Realized that I had a 101 degree fever and that my boob was throbbing! Wonderful. Went to the doctor and it is for sure mastitis. 

I have no idea what causes it, anyone know?? I had it once with DD, hopefully that's all I get this time too.

I had breast surgery to remove a lump 2 years ago, I think it may have something to do with the scarring. Who knows! I'm just miserable...

    I do not know what causes it but I do know it sucks!  feed as much as you can out of the infected side....that is what helped me kick it without antibiotics/

    Well with you having it with ur daughter ur more prone to get it again. It for me came from being engorged and not fulling getting empty. If there is engorgement then the breast are inflamed..with inflammation comes white blood count increased equals infection. I had my mastitis this time in the exact same spot as before as well as a new spot. My tissue right there is horrible to like empty feeling

    Thanks!! It really surprises me that I got it then. DD is such an effective little eater, and I've not felt full or had any soreness at all since my milk came in! Ah well, it was a rough night taking care of both girls and no one here to help! The joys of motherhood!

    I just went to the doctor today because I had 101 fever all day yesterday. Found out it was mastitis as well. My doctor said it could either have been from being engorged or sometimes the baby passes an infection from their mouth to your breast.

    Whatever the cause, it's no fun. :( I hope it goes away soon for both of us!
