C-Section Mama Check in

Hey ladies,

I was just wondering how you all are feeling these days.  I'm back to normal with the exception of tons of soreness right above my incision scar.  It's not constant but a pain level of 6 when touched or brushed up against something.

Wondering how you girls are doing these days?

Re: C-Section Mama Check in

  • I'm doing really good. I still have the lingering back pain from the spinal, but otherwise feel great.

  • I was doing great until about 2 weeks ago...apparently my muscles around it are spasming.

  • My scar is a little sensitive - but I wouldn't even put it on a pain scale. Other than that, I am great!
  • Doing great!  I was really lucky and had a real easy recovery.  Having a scheduled C-section probably contributed to this - didn't have to do any labor first!  Also my OB did a fabulous job!

Lucky you! I had a planned c-section and still went into labor. I went into 8 hours before my scheduled c/s :-P

  • I am doing well. The area around my incision is still numb and sore but other then that everything else is okay.

  • Doing great. I sometimes forget about my scar. I found out about a week after I delivered her, that my doctor is one of the most requested in my area for c-section.

  • I feel good most of the time. I do still have a little soreness around the incision area, and some numbness above it. My scar is still pretty bright purple, too, but it's sort of hidden in my pubes (lol, tmi?). I also have a slight pain in my back in certain positions, where the epi was inserted during my labor.

Emotionally, I still don't feel 100% at peace about the c/s, though. Since it was an emergency surgery, I felt a little bit "jipped" out of the labor/delivery experience I wanted to have. Whenever I watch A Baby Story or 16 and Pregnant and see a flawless vaginal delivery, I get all choked up and wish I could have had that.

My incision feels pretty good, not terribly numb, though the muscles around it and my ab muscles are just so mushy....I do mourn not being able to have a vaginal delivery and am frustrated because I now a repeat c/s will be the safest for future pregnancies.  I do have a funny sensation under my left rib  kind of near my waist/stomach area.  Anyone else?

  • Feels pretty good...I'd say 98% normal?  The incision is still kinda a purplish color, and I'm a little numb still around it.  No daily pain though.

    Ditto.

I keep intending to call and get my file so I can peice everything together. I feel like if I do that then maybe I won't feel so lost about the situation. I am hoping I am a VBAC candidate even though my OB said I cannot vaginally deliver a baby unless its a premie, definitely getting a 2nd opinion.

I also avoid watching A Baby Story or a delivery in any show like the plague. I dislike that I am like that since it is definitely not an emotionally healthy thing.

  • Sometimes it itches a little around my incision.  It's an odd sensation scratching a semi-numb spot.  Also, it can get sore in that area if I over exert myself.  Other than that I hardly notice it.

  • I am totally fine. With the exception of my scar still being reddish on the line in some areas but I can see its fading. It is still slightly numb in that area though, and none of my hair there has/is growing back which I find very odd. I had a great c/s experience I have no woes about having a 2nd one. Honestly I feel my recovery was much easier then most of my friends who had a vaginal birth.

  • I feel great! No sensitivity or pain at all.

I'm still struggling with a flabby belly though....but I guess that's a whole other topic.

  • Hey ladies, I've been off the board for a while due to being overwhelmed with juggling part-time work and LO, but I'm back! I also feel kind of numb around my incision and my belly is still 5 inches bigger than pre-pregnancy. I hope to someday where  my old jeans again, but I wonder if I ever will...

  • I'm doing just fine.  Scar is numb and there is occasional discomfort, but not a big deal.  I deal with people in pain all day long, so I don't feel the need to complain with what I'm feeling.  Of course, a c-section was not my 1st choice, but that's life, and all I care about is my LO.  I can deal with a little disappointment to have a healthy LO.

  • After three c-sections, I feel like I am doing great! I still have some soreness and when I work out I notice some pulling that goes down around the pubic bone, but nothing major. I also have some pain in my back from my spinal.
  • I'm feeling good, the only thing that is really bothering me is my sad little jelly-belly flab. If I could just get that to go away then I would feel completely restored to pre-pregnancy condition.

  • I'm doing pretty good. Like a PP said mine itches. But then this is my second c-section so I knew to expect this. And the incision area is still sensitive. I've noticed that if  my panties sit on it it gets really irritated(TMI?) so I try to wear ones that can go above it(can you say granny panties UGH). And I've noticed, and this is probably TMI, that when the hair grows back it itches like a &*$#@$ so I have to keep it shaved or else it drives me crazy. Anyone have that problem?? I'm just curious if I'm the only one.

  • I feel awesome!  I have had numbness since my first c-section 6 yrs ago.  Now just trying to get my abs back :)

  • this was my second c-section as well. I have some numbness and soreness and it itches whenever its going to rain. The only problem i still seem to be having is tremendous back pain from the spinal. i can literally still feel the medicine dripping down my back inside me.

  • This was my second c-section and I lost a lot of blood, but I've finally recovered except for the red scar and back ache from the epi - but I've always had back pain.  Resumed ab workouts two weeks ago and no pain other than normal soreness from working out.
