diaper cream rec from my MW

I can't believe I didn't think to tell you guys this sooner.

My MW told us to put organic coconut oil on LO's bum after every couple changes.  We bought a HUGE jar of it for $8 at the bulk store and tried it.  It's not to prevent rash, but to prevent poop from sticking to LO's bum.

OMG the stuff is amazing. The first few poops took us forever to clean.  After the coconut oil, poops just wipe off, or doesnt even stick in the first place.

I highly recommend it. Yes

  • That's a great idea! I used it during pregnancy and still have a big jar left!

  • Good to know.  I love coconut oil, I use it now for my skin and hair, so good to know I can use it for this too.

  • We've been using it because it's cloth diaper safe - Vaseline (which does the same thing) is not.

It also works as baby lotion. I took one look at the ingredients on the J&J lotion and can't put that on my baby. It has a dozen ingredients I can't pronounce, and Owen is always putting his hands in his mouth.

We do have a zinc-oxide cream that I use a little of if he looks sore.

  • I agree!! And it's cloth diaper friendly too!
