If your LO STTN...

How do you sleep? I still wake up every couple hours and check on her because I think it's weird that she hasn't woken up yet. I put her down at 8 last night, it's now 5:15 and she's still sleeping. I woke up at least 3 times last night to check on her. I should trust the Angelcare by now to let me know if something's wrong. I'm not the only one who can't STTN even though LO does, right?
I married a ginger.

Re: If your LO STTN...

  • The first time he did it I woke up at his usual feeding time (around 3) and even though I knew he was fine, I wasn't able to get back to sleep.  I just laid there with my eye closed, totally awake.  Now it's easier.  He's done a full night about 4-5 times, not in a row.  But his feeding time is shifting, now anywhere from 1-5, it's easier for me when he's not like clockwork anymore.

I also have to admit that we were total freaks when we brought him home from the hospital so we have an Angelcare AND a video on him.  So I can also take a peek when I want one, that helps too.

We're getting a gps inserted at his 4 mth appt :)

  • Not going to lie, DD slept all night for the first time last night and I was so exhausted that I slept like a rock until 6 am.  Her eyes were open and she was yawning, but not fussing at all.  I got up and fed her before she told me to :-}

The first time that she slept 6 hours after I was used to 2 hour intervals, I was awake like clockwork lol  Because she varies by a few hours in her wake times now, I don't wake up until I hear her grunts.

  • I sleep like a baby.  No problem here!  I do, from time to time, turn to my nightstand and pull up the video to see what he's up to (99% of the time he's fast asleep), but it's been nearly three solid months without uninterrupted sleep- ahh sweet victories!

  • I wake up several times throughout the night, but I usually don't go check on her. I mainly wake up because our dog won't be still and walks around the house like he's crazy.

  • I sleep so lightly that if he hiccups I wake up.  However if he sleeps I've managed to sleep.  The only exception is if I need to pump. I've woken up a few times at 4:30 because I was completely engorged.  Mj goes to sleep at 8:30 and wakes up between 6:30 and 7:30.

  • No problems sleeping here. LO has been STTN since she was 4 weeks old. Occasionally i wake up to use the bathroom or something then i check on her or if i hear a noise. She goes to sleep btwn 8 and 9 and sleeps straight through until 730am has a bottle then goes back to sleep till around 11. then shes up for the rest of the day with maybe 2 half hour cat naps

  • DS now sleeps from from 9:30-5am and occasionally I'll wake up at his old waking time (3 or 4am) I'll look at the clock and know I have to get up in 1 hr to feed him so it's a very light sleep.

I pump when he goes to bed for the night (9:30pm) and I stay up until 12am so I can pump one last time.  If I could just go to bed when DS went to bed I'd get a full 7+ hours sleep!  As tired as I am, getting the milk supply up is more important.

  • I sleep okay. DS goes down betwen 8-9 and sleeps until 6am with the exception of the last two nights. Two nights ago he woke up at 1:30am and last night he woke up at 3am WIDE AWAKE. I wanted to jump out the window.

As far as waking up to check on him, I do not do that. I do check on him at 1:30am before we got to bed though.

  • I generally check on her twice before I go to sleep b/c I'm obsessive like that.  During the night, I may go check on her if I wake up to go to the bathroom.  Otherwise, I don't check on her unless I hear something odd in the monitor.  When she first STTN, I woke up b/c I was in so much pain from not nursing.  But now, my boobs can tolerate 11 to 12 hours without nursing or pumping at night.  It's great.

  • On the nights that Liam STTN (or at least gives me a good stretch) I wake up to check on him. He is actually sleeping in his crib and is the first of all 3 NOT to bedshare so I always feel worried about him. Gosh, I haven't STTN myself in over 6 years. Terrible.
  • A has been sleeping 6+ hours since 4 weeks, so I'm used to it and don't wake up to check on him. Occasionally, he'll cry, grunt, or cough in his sleep and I'll wake up and check on him. He sleeps in a RNP next to our bed so it's easy for me to just roll over, make sure he's breathing, and go back to sleep.

  • I sleep just fine but lighter than I used to. I can hear her on the monitor when she simply stirs a little, when this happens I usually wake a little and listen to see if it sounds like she is waking up or needs something. If I cant tell by what I am hearing I may go in and look at her (times like that I wish we had splurged on the video monitor) LOL
