My LO has has 5 ear infections now , and has been on a different antibiotics for each one. I've had 2 people suggest taking him to a Chiropractor. I mentioned this to the ENT, and he obviously thinks there is "not enough research to conclude a Chiropractor can do anything for ear infections in an infant", but mentioned putting tubes in his ears. My husband and I really do not want to have tubes put in his ears. Especially since he is will only be 5 months (on Fri). Even the ENT said he is on the younger side for tubes.
Has anyone taken your LO to a Chiropractor for repeat ear infections?
Re: Chiropractor - Repeat Ear Infection
I'm still doing my research, but I think the Chiropractor is used to prevent the repeat ear infections. One source I found online said, "They say sometimes depending on how your child was born that their necks, and therefore eustachian tubes/lymphatic drainage systems can be out of whack and that gentle manipulation/vibration/massage can help".
My LO also has reflux. He has never really been in a lot of pain. Just spits up a lot all the time when not given Zantac. The Zantac seems to help with the spitting up. He still does, but now it's what I consider normal. I didn't know a Chiropractor was used for reflux also.
We have not, but if LO get another EI (he's had 2), we will try chiro and/or me giving up dairy. LO was OP got stuck for awhile during delivery and then was born in distress, so it is possible that some things got physically out of whack and an adjustment may help him.
My dr does not advocate tubes any more and we will not go the antibiotics-for-months-or-years route as I think that antibiotic resistance is more dangerous than the possibility of a slight hearing loss. Hopefully it doesn't come to that though. What a depressing choice!
As for reflux, I had an adjustment for my own reflux and it was very helpful. The chiro taught me to do it on myself for when it happens again.
More Green For Less Green
Jay had been going for just over 2 months now. He loves it! It is nothing like when we go to the chiro. I researched an a chiro that specialized in pediatrics and she is great with him. We went for some stomach issues and it really did help. He also started getting flat spot from his RNP and after seeing her weekly we were able to get rid of his flat spot.
It will not hurt to give it a try. It may not help but I think your LO will enjoy it! I personally would much rather know that I at least tried all my options before doing the tubes.
