So I just found out I have low amniotic fluid, and I'm bordering on 38 weeks. She's breech and we've been talking about a c/s for a while. The doc was in surgery the day the nurse prac told me I had low fluid, and then my doc called me at 7 PM the next day. I missed his call!!! I called back like 5 seconds later and it went straight to the answering service. They told me to call in the morning, and I said it was ok b/c I had a non stress test the next day anyway. I'm going in a couple of hours.
I hope he schedules my c/s! He's a nice guy and is good about showing up at the hospital instead of sending someone else. So I'm sure he looked at my chart and decided to schedule my c/s. I'm at the point where he said he's not going to stop labor if I go into it, she's healthy, and is big enough for delivery. Also, they know I lost my plug and have been in early labor for 3 days. I think he'd rather schedule me for a c/s, do the surgery, and get paid for it rather than do the wait and see approach and let her kidneys get backed up. Oh I would love it if he told me I'm going to have the surgery next week. Wouldn't it be nice to avoid labor and contractions, and have the birth planned?
I'm kind of wondering if he wants to admit me immediately...that would be something to be a little concerned about, but if I need it then do it, right? At first I thought someone called in sick and wanted to reschedule when I saw my Dr.'s number on my phone, but when I listened to the voicemail and it was actually him leaving me a msg telling me to call the office. He never calls, so I'm kind of wondering what the deal is. Must be important...
I'll keep everyone updated, but what do you guys think? I'm crossing my fingers for the surgery!
Re: The doc called me today...
I went in today and all he called me over was to tell me to drink a ton of water and lay on my left side b/c the nurses forgot to tell me that. And I already knew that... Phooey.
But the good thing is that my fluid is back up, and the non stress test went fine.
We're going to try to turn her next week, and if that doesn't work then they're scheduling a c/s for the week after. If she turns, we're going to wait for labor. He said that I really don't want a c/s, like for real. But I tell you what, he gave me a preview of what turning her would feel like, and put his thumb down low and his hand a little higher on my belly and pressed. I acted like a tough girl and said, "I can deal with that...that's not so bad." And later that day I laughed and I didn't realize how SORE that made me! It kind of hurt for a couple of hours after that. So just for you ladies who wonder about turning a breech baby, it made me SORE afterwards. Whew! The things we do for our little babies.
