Having sleeping issues because of development milestones? All of a sudden, the last two days, my very good sleeping baby is not sleeping. Like, at all. Unless he's being held and then he sleeps very restlessly and wakes up often. He can seem like he's in the deepest, deepest sleep, completely limp and as soon as I lay him down, his eyes will pop open - wide awake again. If he stays asleep, he might sleep for 10 minutes.
He has started babbling a lot more this week, and he's rolled over several times in the last few weeks (he loooves tummy time). Overall, he's incredibly more alert. So yeah... I don't know if that has anything to do with it.
Or if it's the fact that he hasn't pooped in 5 days (last week he started pooping multiple times a day again and he was SO happy. He is definitely gassy, but not unhappy when he's being held... not overly fussy, just not settling down easily or sleeping well. Last night we were up well past midnight until he fell deep asleep and then he was awake again at 1:30 Tired mommy. Want it to get better
Nothing has changed otherwise, in my diet, etc. Zero caffeine/chocolate. Maybe a little more dairy this week? I'm not drinking milk, but have been okay with cheese - but maybe just small amounts and not every day?
Does anyone really know???
Re: At what age do babies start doing this?
Growth spurt maybe?
I think I remember L having sleep troubles around that age.
I have no imput because Ryder was a terrible sleeper until 10 months. He also didn't roll over until shortly before then (hence the helmet). I just wanted to say that your little man is very advanced for rolling over at 7 weeks old! I didn't even know that was possible.
i don't know.. but ds was exactly like that! he would be completely passed out, limp to the world in your arms, but as soon as you'd put him down, he was wide awake and pissed!
but in our case it turned out that ds had reflux. so he would sleep awesome while being held bc it wasn't painful in that position, but when we'd lay him down it was painful, hence the pissed off wake up. lol.
i hope in your case that it's not reflux and just some developmental thing.
Oooh, yeah, reflux. You might want to talk to the pedi about that as a possibility, Satreece. Q had the worst friggin reflux complete with severe vomiting that set in right around 2 months. The poor guy was in such pain until we medicated him. I don't think that's Piper's problem though since she sleeps fine all night.
Yeah... my Quinn had really bad reflux too, so I'm a little worried about that. He actually sleeps pretty well at night (usually) - definitely not fussy at night (in the middle of the night) like Quinn was. He slept 7 hours last Saturday night which Quinn didn't do until he was like... oh... I don't know... 10 months old??
I don't know if he has stomach/reflux issues or if it's normal baby stuff - I can hear his tummy making crazy noises and he definitely burps stuff up into his mouth (gross, right?) but doesn't spit up often. So technically, that seems like it's reflux, but... he isn't really acting like he's in pain or uncomfortable.
I just put him in his bed with his white noise maker, wide awake and he's been in there staring around and talking for 10+ minutes.
Maybe he was just over-stimulated? OY. Babies are hard, no matter how many times you do it. I hate that they don't come with a trouble-shooting guide or better yet, a freaking instruction manual...
No kidding. I have zero advice for you since I'm in the same exact boat with Z. He's so hard to get to go to sleep. I'm going to blame it on the not pooping every day thing. He's EBF and will go like a week without pooping. So, while that's okay, he gets sooooo gassy. The gas wakes him up 9 times out of 10.
