1st Trimester

Did anyone feel sick/have a cold prior to BFP?

I am 7 DPO and here are the symptoms I have:  This nasty sickness that feels like I am coming down with something.  And a little crampy and occasional nausea.

I know I just may not be PG and have the flu but just wondering if this happened to anyone else?

Re: Did anyone feel sick/have a cold prior to BFP?

  • Yes - I got some type of cold/virus nastiness during the 2ww of my IVF cycle (and nearly had a breakdown b/c I was afraid it would hurt our chances).  I had a fever, scratchy throat, and just generally felt yucky all over.  Not fun!!

    Good luck to you!!!

  • Yup, I had a cold during my 2 ww with BOTH pregnancies. I felt as if it was due to my immune system being supressed b/c of the pregnancy. Weird huh?
  • Yup, I was very congested from about 4 DPO (that actually hasn't really gone away) and had a sore throat for a day or two in my 2ww. I remember thinking it was strange since it wasn't quite cold season and I didn't know anyone who was sick!
  • Yup, I still have a cold.

  • Yup.  The reason I took a HPT was because I thought I had the flu and was confused because it isn't really flu season yet.
  • I thought I was getting sick b/c I was SOOO exhausted!  I also thought I was getting my period b/c I was very crampy.  This started about 12 DPO.

    Good luck!

  • I had a cold which masked most of my symptoms. I was exhausted and didn't really have an appetite. Once my almost two week cold went away, I was still tired and still didn't feel much like eating. Then I took the test and it was positive. That was the day I started to attribute my symptoms to being pregnant.
  • I had pretty nasty fever but did not want to take the cold medicine, just in case, you know. I tested on day 5 of being sick and got a BFP!

  • yep. I had a sore throat, hot flashes, just like when I am getting the flu and runny nose starting about 3 days before my bfp. I still have it.
  • I really beleive I did have the flu the week before I took the test. I had the high fever, chills and sweats.  I only took the test because my hubby kept "kidding" that I was pg because I had a complete attitude or was whining. I felt better by the time I called my GYN on Monday and after going in, I was already 2 months along. Thank goodness he said I didn't show any signs of miscarriage and everything looked great and set me up with his partner (the OB) for 4 weeks later.  So hopefully everything still looks "great" at this appt next week.
  • I don't know if this counts, but I had strep throat a week before my BFP.  While I had strep, I was getting a little crampy and I thought it was just body aches from the fever and all.  I guess it wasn't!  ;-)

Baby #2: 12 cycles, 1 failed FET, natural miracle but m/c at 9 weeks then another natural miracle that stuck! 9-30-09

    TTC #3 - 4 cycles - no BFP yet!
  • I got flu-like symptoms, cramping & nausea right before BFP.
