DH and I were talking about this the other day. DD was doing something cute and I called DH over to see. He just happened to have just gotten out of the shower so he was naked. Obviously it doesn't make a difference at this age, but at what age are you going to stop showering with LO, walking around naked, etc? And does gender factor into it?
Re: At what age are you going to stop being naked in front of LO?
H will probably stop around age 2 although he rarely walks around the house naked anyway. For me I don't think this will really be a concern. Why should she not be able to see me naked? I'm not saying that I'm going to do cartwheels through the living room or anything, but I don't think my body/the body that she will someday have is something I need to hide from my daughter
I haven't decided yet. I want Ellie to be comfortable with her body and open to talking with me about it later, but I dont want her strippimg down at Mammaw's either or thinking everyone walks around naked.
my ds will be 3 in august and he still has no idea.
In fact funny story....Ds loooooves to be clean, hates to be dirty. So I get out of the shower and I'm all wrapped up in a towel. he reaches his hand up my back thigh and goes..."ooooooh niiiiice.....clean" I was getting super creeped out until he said "cleaaaan".
It was beyond hilarious. He has not questioned nekkidnesss yet or the difference between mommy and daddy.I read in a book this usually comes around age 3...
Probably something like this.
LOL!
You know she already told some of her friends at playgroup or preschool, right? When I taught preschool I heard so many comments like this!
"I thought I heard mommy crying last night, but when I went in their room they told me to just go back to sleep. Maybe mommy had a bad dream."
I still remember walking in on my parents having sex when I was in kindergarden. They were being creative. I'm scared for life.
The responses are hilarious, a tail?! Bwahahaha!
Probably baths and walking around will stop around 3 years old (when I've read they take notice as pp said). But if I have more kiddos, which I plan to, then I will still breastfeed in front of him because I don't feel it needs to be hidden and especially not in my own house. Yes gender plays a role because if/when I have a girl then I don't know if there will be a set age. I remember being about 6 maybe and taking a shower with my mom after getting out of the pool. It wasn't a regular thing at all but was for convenience since we were short on time and both had to be ready to go. After that I've seen her "bits" while changing in the dressing room if we've had to share one. It's never been an issue but it's funny to me because my mom is such a prude about everything else!
With DH I think it will stop soon even though we have a boy. He gets out of the shower and as he's dressing I usually have DS on the bed playing. DH often remarks, "He just looked at me, at my...thing," and covers himself. Most often DS is just looking through him or if he is looking at him it's no where in particular. It still freaks DH out though.
This. I totally agree!
My DS has no idea either.
This. I totally agree!
I agree as well.
HAHHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
Gender makes a difference for us. DH has already stopped being naked around DD, but I still am sometimes.
I don't know how long I'll go naked in front of DS, probably less time, probably by the time he's 1?
I BF uncovered in front of my boys 10 & 8 and they are not grossed out by it. Matter of fact I think I have the most oblivious boys around. They have seen me naked, in the shower or changing, but one day when I had DD my youngest son was watching me change her diaper and he asked me where her penis was. I said she didnt have one, and he said "Oh, it will grow in as she gets older" Laughing my head off I had to explain that no, it wouldnt grow in. We are working on the whole, Your body is yours and you shouldnt show it to people you dont know love trust, but it is nothing to be ashamed of.
