Anyone know how to wash antique baby clothing and get yellow out?

We are having a baptism on Sunday and want DD to wear a baptism gown thats been in my family forever. It's a little wrinkled and a little yellow and I just don't know how to clean it. I'm pretty sure it's linen. Anyone have any tips or should I just try to fine a dry cleaner that can have it done in time?

  • My sister had my mom's veil turned into a belt and they used Ivory Snow.  GL!

  • The advice I was given in this situation is to wash it gently and lay it out flat in the sun to dry.  The sun acts as a bleaching agent and will lighten or remove the yellowing (depending on how bad it is).

  • No advice, but I wanted to say how special that is. I would love to have a baptism gown in my family!

  • One scoop biz, one scoop oxy clean, and one cup ammonia. Let soak in enough water to cover the clothes. My mom cleaned some of my baby clothes with this and they came out looking so clean, I started using this to get out hard to get out stains. It works like magic!
