XP: 3D sonographer said something scary to me

I had a 3D ultrasound yesterday and at one point the sonographer said: "You're 29 weeks??  Her head is very, very, very low.  Do you feel pressure on your bladder?"  I told her no, not really.  But she made it sound like LO is about to pop out any day...which freaked me out!!

  • That's probably why sonographers aren't allowed to say really anything around here.

Was it an elective scan? In some cases, they may not be as well trained as the people who do medical scans.

    Ditto.  Sonographer /=/ doctor

  • I wouldn't worry about it, the ultrasound tech told me the same thing at 29 weeks the other day. I have been having a lot of pressure, but the Dr did an internal and everything looked good. My Dr. said as long as the pressure isn't accompanied by cramping, bleeding, or leaking that it is perfectly normal...especially if this isn't the 1st baby. (my 3rd)

I really wouldn't worry about that. She didn't say "OMG You're about to go into labor at any minute!!!", she made a comment on how baby's on your bladder. Mine has been hanging out down there since 17 weeks. Some babies just lay low. If you're concerned about what they tech said, talk to your doctor about it at your next appointment

  • I agree with everyone else... I'm sure it is nothing to worry about. I had an u/s yesterday to check on my low-lying placenta and the tech commented that his head was way way low down on top of my bladder but didn't act concerned. The doctor didn't say anything about it at my appointment immediately afterwards, either.
