Babies: 0 - 3 Months

is this normal? (napping question)

DD is 6 1/2 weeks old and only takes one "real" nap from around 10am-2pm. Other than that during the day she is mostly up with about 5 ten minute short naps. During the night she wakes up about every three hours to feed and goes right back to sleep and her night is from 9pm-6am. Is this normal sleep patterns? I feel like she is staying up too much but I don't know what to do. I EBF if that makes a difference. Thanks!

  • DD is a week behind but this is pretty much how she does as well. she takes a nap about an hour after she gets done eating for about 2 hours and then sometimes she takes a longer nap (about 3 hours) after her next feeding. but for the most part she has both of her naps done by 1 pm and is awke till bedtime (9 pm)

  • DS is about the same. If I'm lucky, I can squeeze another half hour nap out of him sometime in the morning (his long nap goes from 2-3 'til 5 or 6).

  • Yep. AJ was/is the same (he's 9 weeks now). He gives me a 4 hour morning nap followed by an hour or so in the afternoon and kitten naps scattered in the evening. He sleeps a good 7-8 hours at night.
