Babies: 9 - 12 Months

How much does your 11 month old eat?

I'm worried that DS isn't getting enough to eat. He's never been a very chubby baby, but I'm starting to think he's TOO skinny....

How much does your 11 month old eat? DS nurses in the morning, gets a breakfast of either a stage 3 or a banana, nurses before his morning nap, a stage 3 for lunch, a 6 oz bottle with DH in the afternoon, stage 3 for dinner, 6 oz bottle before bed. He also kinda snacks on whatever we are eating for breakfast and dinner, but doesn't eat much of it...

Just curious how much others his age are eating...

  • DS started refusing bottles a few weeks ago, so he is on whole milk now. He probably gets about 12oz a day total of milk, which our pedi was fine with at his age. For breakfast DS eats a huge bowl of oatmeal made with 4oz of milk, 3/4 cup of oatmeal and a few tablespoons of applesauce. Lunch is usually a serving of something we have leftover (like baked ziti, etc) or I will make him 2 scrambled eggs or he will have a stage 3 food and a 4oz yogurt Dinner is usually whatever we have or another stage 3 food with maybe a 4 oz applesauce or something. He pretty much eats 10oz of food at each meal. Snacks are his milk, puffs, mum mums, bananas

  • Oh and I don't think your DS is eating too little since he is still nursing. Once he is weaned I am sure his solid intake will go up!

  • What is a stage 3?  DD eats table food so I have no idea what that means.  She insists on feeding herself most things.

DD eats quite a bit.  I am still BFing so she BFs at wake-up, has 3 bottles of pumped milk (5oz each) when I am at work, BFs to sleep.  Lately sometimes she does want to BF right when I get home, too.

Breakfast is 2-3 types of fruit in chunks (today it was cantaloupe, pear & banana), 2 oz of baby oatmeal, 1-2 tbsp full-fat greek yogurt, a couple puffs, a cup of water (she usually drinks half).  Sometimes we skip the oatmeal & do 1/2 an organic blueberry waffle broken up into bits & dipped in greek yogurt.

Lunch is usually 2 fruits & 2 veggies in chunks, chicken or turkey chunks, sometimes cheese bits (we try to limit that b/c she'd eat it with every meal if we let her), yogurt or cottage cheese, a couple puffs, a cup of water (again, she drinks half).

Dinner is similar to lunch with 1 less fruit & 1 more veggie.

We switch up the fruits & veggies all the time.  She pretty much eats everything.  It does seem like your child eats very little, but maybe my kid just eats a ton.  If you are worried call your Pedi.

Have you tried finger foods?  DD eats WAY more when she feeds herself.

  • I nurse DD when she wakes up at around 7:30. She eats breakfast around 8:45 which is usually a big bowl of oatmeal mixed with fruit or 3 mini pancakes and a fruit, etc. She drinks a 6 ounce bottle around 11 and then eats lunch at 2:30. For lunch she either gets whatever we are eating, or we feed her those Plum Organics square meals with a fruit. I usually nurse her when I come home from work and then we all eat dinner around 6:30-7:00. She will have usually what we have, otherwise I will make her spaghetti, quesadillas, macaroni and cheese and a fruit.

Really?  My DS only eats table foods, but I still know what jarred (stage 1,2,3) baby foods are.

Yeah really.  I haven't ever used jarred baby food so why would I know what that meant?  When she ate purees initially I made them.

Good for you that you know what they are though Yes

  • My DS is a very picky eater and I don't feel like he eats much at all but I can't get him to eat any more. He still drinks about 26oz of formula a day though. Heres what a normal day looks like with us:

8oz bottle when he wakes up

breakfast is either half a waffle or an egg with some cheese

snack is about a handful of puffs and some cheese

lunch is usually some left over from the night before so he eats a small portion of meat, a good portion of veggies because he loves veggies, and sometimes he'll have mac and cheese. If he have pasta the night before he takes a portion of that and some veggies.

snack is a container of Yobaby or Yotoddler yogurt

dinner is usually just whatever we have for the night, a meat, veggie, rice or pasta, sometimes sweet potato for him.

He also takes a sippy of diluted juice through the day as well. And he doesn't like fresh fruit so I have a hard time trying to get any type of fruit in him. Sometimes I'll give him a squeeze packet of fruit as a snack which he'll eat.

  • Samantha is on whole milk now so i dont really measure how much she gets i just fill a bottle, but its normally no more then 6oz at a time. she has about 4 bottles a day i guess.

for breakfast we have either pancakes, waffles, or cereal (normally 4 tablespoons) and some yogurt)

Lunch is normally whatever we have the night before, or if i bought a stage 3 she will have that, with some cheese and if i can get her to eat a fruit she will have that. or she has grilled cheese or some kind of sandwich

dinner is normally what we eat now. if not another stage 3 and a stage 3 fruit (we have kinda weaned from the jar baby food though and she takes more table foods)

snacks are normally  puffs, yogurt, cheese, crackers, cereal bars.

Remember CJ is more active now as well, so it might not seem hes getting enough. i think Samantha is loosing weight all the time but we get to the pedi and shes gained. i think if your pedi isnt concerned with his weight you shouldnt be either.

  • Why do so many women on here like to point out things like this - does it make them feel better?  really I can't believe sometimes how rude ppl are.
