are cortisone shots OK during pregnancy?

my carpel tunnel is getting out of control.  it's affecting every single aspect of my life.  i'm going to see a orthopedist today about it and was going to ask him if i could get cortisone shots to reduce the swelling & inflammation.  from what i've read online, cortisone is OK and is only absorbed into the tissue and not the bloodstream.  i was just wondering if anyone else has had cortisone shots (for any other reason) during pregnancy.

    I've had carpal tunnel since my second trimnester and it's horrible, so sorry for your pain. One of my doctors stated I could get cortisone shots to help me get through the end of my pregnancy (since it has gotten worse) but all the doctors (orthopedic) I called stated they would not give the shots to pregnant women...very frustating.  My OB stated the same you did as above; it is absorbed into the tissue not the bloodstream. Some doctors I suppose feel it's unsafe.
