Austin Babies

I need "the" haircut.

here is my face.

image

 i need a new "do".

it is pretty fine - but I have a lot of hair.  it dries straight - no curl or volume.  Currently it's very very long and I generally part it on the side (where it just naturally falls).  I've tried bangs before... and it didn't go so well - but that may have been the cut's issue.  I'm willing to give bangs another try if needed for the right style.

please, can you pip a good style for me?  Or tell me who's face I should google.

Also, if you love your stylist, please AW them.  I've gone to many (even the raved z ig z a g...) and have yet to find someone that I feel obligated to return to (based on the quality of the cut).

Any help is super appreciated.

  • i think you would look cute in a short bob but i'm not super good at hair stuff:)  i really do love my stylist though.  her name is jean barton and she works at path salon (512-447-7284) on south congress (south of the river).  she is a bit pricey but she is fantastic and her cuts always grow out great on me so i only end up getting my hair cut 3-4times a year.

  • I always like side-swept bangs, though they can be hard to make stay if your hair is fine. You could also pull off long straight bangs, like these ladies.

  • I would do a side part swing bob. Shorter at the nape than at the front, not much in the way of layers but with textured ends for movement. Straight fringe is going to make your face look really round. I'm guessing that with dance you don't want your hair in your face? You'll need it to either be long enough to pull back or short enough that it's not an issue- since you have long hair now, going that short would be a HUGE change.

Never mind the funky haircolour here:

Ahh, WTF. There were pics in there!

    *trying to edit*

While she is busy trying to edit I will AW my stylist, m_m. Big Smile Mar did a great job with my last cut and for the first time in my life I like my natural hair more than trying to flat iron it. She also added bangs for the first time in my life and have received many compliments on them. I agree that some sort of long bob will look great on you.
  • It seriously will not let me edit. :-/

A longer version of this (about 1-2" below your shoulders in the front, brushing the bottom of your neck in the back):

With your hair type it would be minimal styling, minimal product. If you wanted to do something different for a night out or whatever, you could style it like this (this is pretty much the same haircut, but Nichole Richie has curly hair with a Brazilian Blowout):

  • Ooh, I like that long bob!  My hair is juuuust wavy enough to not pull that off - if your hair would dry like that easy enough, I say go for it.
  • I use Joel at Shag Salon (851-7424).  I've used him for almost 6 years now, and he's the only one in Austin I've felt loyal to; I also have a ton of fine hair. He's also a color specialist, which is a plus.

Dude, you could totally rock that! If you ironed it you'd be closer to the picture, if you put in some texture cream and let it air dry you'd have a soft looser version and if you wanted to use a diffuser you could pump up the curls a bit more. That's the beauty of the long bob. it works with just about every hair type out there (cut slightly different depending on curl pattern and texture of course).

  • Here's a don't pic:

This is what happens if you get a) bad fringe and b) one length all around. There is no denying that Hayden Panettiere is a super-hottie, but this does nothing even for her. It's just "blah". It screams "small town midwest".

If you wanted to go really short, check out Michelle Williams. She has a similar face shape and straight fine hair. Hayden Panettiere has some other styles that would look great on you, but they're more textured and would require a lot more work from you on a daily basis (curling and such). That goes against every recommendation I ever make. :-)

i'm totally sold on the swing bob.  thanks so much m_m.

  • I had the same problem as you. I recently got the short bob, and i am.in.love.with.it. Seriously. Use some volume foam, blow dry, AMAZING. I absolutley love it. I have never been happier with a hairstyle ever. I did actually tell them to go shorter than they originally did, because I couldn't stand where it fell on my neck. I wanted it AT my hairline. I don't know how to PIP a pic from my phone...too challenging for me.
