Connor is here :) (Brief Birth Story)

Connor Lawrence graced us with this presence Wednesday, May 11,at 7:49PM weighing 7lbs, 9 oz, measuring 19" long after 8 hours of labor and 35 minutes of pushing. Here's a brief break down...

- Admitted to hospital for induction: May 10 at 11AM (already having contractions 3-5 mins apart, but still measuring at 1cm).
- Cervicil dose 1: 2:30PM
- Cervicil dose 2: 230AM (had Bishop score of 6 at the time)
- Admitted to L & 10 AM May 11
- Epidural: 11:30 AM (didn't really need it, more so for the bathroom
- Water Breaks: 3 PM... find out there's merconium
- Pushing: 715PMish
- Connor Lawrence arrives! 7:49 PM
(He now shares his birthday with my parents' anniversary!)

Because of the merconium and fast delivery, he had to get suctioned and stayed with me for about 10 seconds before they had to take him to the "transition unit" (one step below NICU). Long story short- they really screwed up and the next 24 hours, I barely saw him. They didn't let me BF and the next night, he wound up in the NICU. I finally started being able to BF him Friday. I got discharged and broke down at home because I left without my baby. Stayed pretty much at the NICU until Sunday May 15 when he was discharged as well.

I don't know which was more heartbreaking: realizing something was wrong right after he was born, seeing him get fed through a tube, or getting discharged without him. It was probably the darkest moments of my life, but thankfully (and I mean thankfully) he is home and doing wonderfully. His first check up he passed with flying colors.

I'd like to just publicly thank DH and our families for being there this past week. I could not have made it through this without them.
