Anyone pump at work with no access to a fridge?

I am starting a new job on Monday and just found out there is no refrigerator anywhere in the building to store my milk throughout the day. Do you just store your milk in a regular lunch bag with some ice packs? Or do you use something special that you really like for this purpose?

I don't have an office, I work from my car, so I also pumped in my car and would store my milk in a cooler w/ ice. Worked out well for me.

I stored the milk in the insulated bag inside my pump bag with two ice packs around it.  It was always cold when I transferred it to the fridge when I got home.  Always worked just fine for me.  No biggie...

  • I had no access to a fridge, and I also have a pretty long walk to my car most days (university campus without staff parking). I kept my pump and a large cooler at work. Each day I brought clean bottles/parts and several ice packs. I kept the pump parts and pumped milk in the large cooler with the ice packs through the day, then transferred everything to my lunch cooler bag to get it home.

We have a fridge, but I always prefered storing it in my own bag at my desk. My coworkers are nosy and I would rather not have them going through my BM bag, besides our fridge is not clean. I simply brought ice packs in a small lunch cooler. I also kept my pump bottles and parts in there with the ice packs so I didn't have to clean it after each use. I rinsed it, but I figured with the cold environment that any leftover milk in the bottles would still be fine to pump into for the next pumping. Like I said, my coworkers are weird and I wanted to avoid soaping up my pump in the kitchen sink. This saved me a lot of time and I never had any problems. I had a few ice packs that I would rotate through for the week and washed my pump each night when I got home.

I did have access to a fridge and did not use.  Pumped twice a day over six months.  Kept the milk in cooler sleeves that came with the pump bag and kept the horns in a plastic bag in between sessions at room temp..

    No big deal IMO.

I used the cooler and ice packs that came with my pump.

  • yup, it's that simple. 2 ice packs with bottles sandwiched between in the cooler that came with my pump.
  • Freshly expressed milk can be stored at room temp for about 10 hours. (Only 4 or 5 if it's a warm room.) So I don't think it's a big deal at all. Sometimes I put mine in the fridge at work, and sometimes I just store it in an insulated bag. :)
