How long do you leave your LO at daycare?

Last week my 11 week old just started for a few hours each day and I'm planning to move into 8 hour days once I return to work.  I'm struggling with this and my mom is making me feel terrible for leaving him so long... I hate it too but I do have a job...

How many hours do/are you planning to leave your LO?

    I'll be in school this fall full time, it's a structured day program and while my classes aren't a full 8 hours every day, I'll still be leaving LO at the at home daycare for the full day.

    E goes to daycare 3 days a week for 10 hours a day. Starting in July, he'll be going 4 days a week for 10 hour days.

    IMO, daycare is a good thing for babies...they need to socialize with LO their own age.

    My mom thinks daycare is terrible, I have to remind her that times have changed since i was a baby and we can't afford for me to stay at home like she did.

    I have to be to work by 7am. DH doesn't get home from work till 7:30am. He works night so he has to sleep. He picks LO up in the afternoon. Poor DS has to be at the babysitters from 6:15-3:15. But we have to work. We planned on DH working afternoons when we started TTC, but he got put on midnights at the begining of this year.

    I don't think 8 hours a day is long. 

    Think about it - everyone that works 8-5 has their LO in daycare at LEAST 9 hours a day. That doesn't include commute time.

    I work in daycare and see children that are there 11 hours a day.  Unfortunately, much of the time it's not because the parents are working the whole time.  8 hours is okay and at least you actually want to be with your child and don't just leave them there so you can have your own time every day!

    I leave by 6am everyday Monday thru Friday and try real hard to be back 630...I am extremely lucky to have my mom watching my son for the next few weeks until school is out.

    DS is in daycare 9 hours M-F.  Even on the days that I only work half day, I leave him there. 1) I get things done and have ME time 2) He is already structured with his schedule at DC and I don't want to mess up his routine! Sometimes I do pick him up a little earlier on my half days, just after nap time is over!
