I was told to bf no matter if you are sick or not. Including mastitis. Your body is fighting off illness and producing probiotics and stuff. That's just what my bf class told me I'm not a doctor.
as far as passing an infection...here's what a nurse told me about viruses and such.
We were talking about when you can/can't BF and she said only if you have a live Herepes lesion on your breast and she's never seen a case like that anyway. She said you can't pass on viruses and stuff through BM.
I've been told and read that you should keep on BF as usually. You can gently massage your breast too, to help. I hope it goes away soon- it sounds terrible to have!
Yes. I have an appointment tomorrow for possible mastitis as well. The only reason that you are supposed to stop, is if your doctor finds an abscess and needs to drain it.
Re: Possible mastitis - do I give expressed milk...

However, I'm not a nurse.
