Georgia Babies

I hate cliques.

The moms in Benjamin's class all suck.  Not the only reason but one of many why we're going to be changing schools after next year if not before.

That is all.

I have come across more than a couple playgroups that were the same way. It's supremely stupid to me. Sorry you're going through that. :(

  • Last week.. .there was a lunch for the teachers. They told me about it but wanted me to bring vegetarian pasta because they all vegetarians. The teachers arent. I didn't take anything and I didn't go. Why? I just thought they were to dictatorial.

Just now at the picnic they all decided ahead of time of what to bring and not tell me. Not sure if they were pissed at the 24 cupcakes I took at halloween when I was only supposed to bring 7. The teachers told me bring more. So what if I made one of them look crazy with her 4 cupcakes. Who splits the cupcake duty anyway??

Just now there was a picnic at her school and they never told me about it until last night I recieved an email. Anyway... what a picnic... all junk food and not a piece of fruit or vegetable because clearly I was left out of the bringing foods or supplies list. I left. Got tired of standing to the side while they all spoke in their language. Rude.

  • I can't stand them either.  It is so childish.

  • Oh girl.  I know.  Why do women do this?  There are several at the boys school.  I'm on the nerd list as I don't play clique games.
  • The preschool moms in Colin's class minus 1 that I made 'friends' with are like this. Not that we all need to be BFFs, but just the way they are at class events and with the planning of parties. I know I have felt alienated by them. I changed C's school for next yr too, for (many) other reasons but I will be happy to escape some of these moms.

  • That just sucks.  So glad I LOVE my nanny/neighbor.  Hope the new school is better both of you.

  • While it sucks to know that I'm not the only one dealing with this, I'm also glad I'm not the only one.  I just don't understand the necessity of cliques, especially when it's to the detriment of the kids.  Whatever.  I was actually going to wait another year to move the boys to the new school for a few reasons but after talking with DH tonight, we're looking at moving them this Fall.  Not because of the stupid moms but it definitely helps our decision to move them earlier.
  • We've experienced this too, but you know.....it happens everywhere.  It will continue to happen throughout grade school and so on.  I think the big lesson in this is to not only figure out how we, as mom's, want to deal with it.....but also how we model for our kids to deal with it.  I remember the hell of my childhood years and how painful it was....it makes me sad to know my kids will have to go through it too.

So true, Brandi and I completely agree.  Something stupid like this wouldn't make me change schools at all because I feel that you need to stand up for what you believe is right no matter who how many cliques are there.  And I've more than done so in the past.  But, the old school is at a synagogue where we aren't planning on joining anyway because of how we were both raised religiously.  We just aren't happy with the services there. The new school is at the synagogue where we will be joining in the future and where the kids will be going to Sunday school once they are old enough.  It is more in tune with our religious beliefs.  It's just making it easier for me to make the decision to switch now instead of a year from now, which I have no clue why I was waiting anyway. :-)

Traci - I don't think we live that far from each other - would you mind letting me know which schools?  We've enrolled D at Wood Acres in the Fall.

Sounds like a perfect fit all around :)
