DH & I argue over this because S basically has a glorified mullet. I think if we trimmed it a little it would look a lot better but he thinks it?s ridiculous to cut her hair before she?s even two? when do you plan to give them their first haircut, or if it?s already happened, when was it?
Re: Moms of Girls...cutting hair?
Sophia had her first hair cut at 9 months. It was just a trim because her bangs were getting so long.
I'd trim the mullet for sure.
DH and I JUST had this convo last night.
He asked me when we would cut her hair and jokingly replied, "NEVER!!"
I then told him, well maybe when we want to give her bangs...
He said, "Bangs? You aren't just born with them!?"
DH is so silly!!! I had to explain the whole process!
DD's hair is curry in the back and therfore is fine not to cut for awhile. The front I always sweep over each morning into a braid or ponytail and it works for now. So not for awhile!
My friends DD just got her FIRST haircut at 4yrs old! She too has curly hair though!
That's what I think too, but he's pretty insistent about not cutting it...we'll see who wins.
I trimmed DD1's bangs at 11 months, but after that she didn't get a real haircut until she was almost 3. After I finally had it done, though, I had wondered why I waited so long -- it looked so much better! Meanwhile poor DD2 is nowhere near ready for a haircut. lol.
If you think she needs it, go for it. There aren't any age requirements for haircuts!
Keira doesn't have much hair,so we haven't cut it yet. I am on the don't cut it wagon. LOL! I don't know why but I really don't want to cut it. I don't want her to have bangs either, so it will probably be a while before we cut it.
The only thing I'm nervous about is the top is short, so I'm not sure what all they could do. It's got a ton of different layers. I don't want her to end up looking like a boy. She looks SO cute when she lets me put them in pigtails or a ponytail, but at DC, the rubberband is out within the hour.
I say cut it, he can't do too much when the hair is laying on the floor! I'm surprised he has so many feelings wrapped up in her hair, a lot of guys wouldn't care. Tell him that it will grow back so don't worry about it. You don't have to go lopping it all of, just a trim...go about 1cm at a time and see how things look, stop if you have to.
Honestly I am too! He hates when I cut my hair too though, he likes long hair on girls/women though, so maybe that's it? Who knows..So you would do it yourself?? I would be kind of nervous about that.

DD has tons of hair, she had her first hair cut at 10 months old, and she goes every 6 weeks because it just grows like a weed. They just trim it so she doesnt have a mullet- we are trying to get it all to be one length then she can have a cute little suri cruise bob.
Even with cutting it so frequently I still have to use clips and bows to keep it out of her face. I cannot stand messy hair on kids- I like her hair to have a shape and not be all over the place. I don't think it's a big deal to cut their hair before they are 2, all kids are different- some need more hair cuts then others- its hair it will grow back eventually if the hair cut is a disaster.
lol I don't know if it's to the middle of her back, I'd say it's right at her shoulders, but it's somewhat thin with a little bit of curl, so when up, it's cute, but when down it's downright ugly.
lol of course it does...but for some reason DH is more protective of her hair than I thought he would be...I assumed it was a girl thing.
I really didn't want to cut DD's hair yet but it too was a baby mullet. We had it cut at 19 months, into a little bob and I LOVE it. So glad we did it! It looks so much thicker and healthier now.
I would say do it!

We're getting family photos done in a week, so I'm taking both girls to get a haircut. It'll be DD2's first.
We cut DD1's hair at around 9 months because her bangs were uncontrollable and she had to hold her head at weird angles to be able to see around them. She got her first salon cut around 12 months because I suck at cutting bangs. :P
DD2's hair cowlicks out of her face in the front, and she lets us put barrettes in it a lot of the time, so it hasn't required a cut. But I would really like to neaten the ends up a bit before photos.
I think if you can convince DH that it won't do any harm to get it cut, he'll be impressed with how much tidier it looks with just nipping off the ends -- and it also will help her hair grow out evenly because everything is trimmed up. I hate the mullet-phase, and getting regular trims kept DD1's hair neat as it grew.

Allie was born with a head full of hair. We still haven't cut it. She's had a clip or hairbow in her hair since basically day 1. I love it. It's basically down to her butt now.
It was tough to keep it out of her eyes, etc. But I'm so glad we did, and didn't cut it.
Me and my mom cut DD's hair at about 6 months ourselves because her hair was completely uneven and matted. She ended up with a little bob. We then cut it around 1 year to give it some shape and then again at 18 months to get rid of her old baby hair which was straight and dried out looking at the bottom of her neck...the rest of her hair is curly.
That's what I'm afraid of, her top isn't really very long, so I'm not sure how it'll look if it's all trimmed up. I know it's really not that big a deal in the grand scheme of things, but still.
