Hey ladies...when are or did you get the convertible carseat? I know most infant seats are based on weight and Sophee is about 14 lbs. However, she is 24 inches long. Her feet are slowly starting to come over the edge of the seat. I think I can get a month maybe two out of it before we buy a convertible one. It is just so confusing to go by weight when they may be tall/long in height, not sure what to go by?!? Just wanted to know what you ladies are doing or have done. Thanks

Re: Convertible carseat
We just ordered one because our nanny is starting soon and we wanted to have a car seat for her car. We'll probably put the snugride in hers and put the convertible in ours.
Another motivating factor was that the snugride is getting so heavy and I would much rather put her in the carrier. She is 15.5 lbs and ~25 in.

Usually carseats go to 29in, so she's way small to have to move based on height alone.
I moved DS at 6 months, but by that point he was 20lbs and 29in long, which was the height max of the seat.
DD is really petite-she's only 12lbs. I'll move her when she hits around 20lbs or 29in, whatever comes first.
I think unless they are sitting independently well to the point that you can keep them in a shopping cart, that's when to make the switch (or you're forced to because baby is too large). It's a PITA I think to have a baby that can't sit well that you don't have a convertible seat for and it makes grocery shopping/going out to eat a lot tougher.
Most convertible seats 'start' at newborn sizes, so you can swap over whenever you want. We only bought a convertible. It's kind of a PITA to not have the option of the removable bucket. I use a Moby carrier, and she falls asleep a couple minutes after I put her in it, whereas she's not a huge fan of her car seat.
