I had a few very intense contractions about a week or two after delivery that the doc's stated were "after birth pains". Lately, I have had on and off cramping for 2 1/2 weeks, then I had VERY intense contractions equalivent to that of labor contractions..or worse. They lasted for 5 days. After day 2 of that I called the nurse and they put me on a med (forgot the name) to start my period. Today, day 6 of this, I haven't had any bad contractions, yay! At my 6 week checkup she said my uterus was not all the way shrunken yet and I have to go back next week at 12 weeks. Could all those contractions this week be from my uterus shrinking? What do you think it was from??
Btw: I have not gotten a period yet still. Not BF and no bcp.
Re: Cramping......still having after-birth pains??
I get them and actually had then after my first child, too. Every once in a while, I will just get some intense pains that feel like contractions. It is mainly only once every other week or so, not consistent.
My check ups were fine and my doctor told me not to worry. I might just be creating more of the hormone when I BF that causes contractions, the oxytocin or something like that.
Last time they went away after 4 months or so.
