Just wondering what the averages are (after reading the thread about putting baby in the crib for the first time). Of course, I am dreaming of the day when we get a good 8 hours of sleep again. Right now, it seems like Noah averages about 4-5 hours in a row. He is 6 weeks old.
So, how old/how long for your LO? Also, do you have anything special in your nighttime routine that you think has helped?
Re: How long is your baby sleeping?
We start bedtime between 6 and 630. Any later, and we face 2h of LO screaming bc he's overtired. Nightly routine is bath (every other day), new clean clothes, book and nursing.
He sleeps from between 7-8p and until 2-4am, and then from an hr after he wakes up until 7-8am.
So, 7hrs straight, even though I don't go to bed with him right at 7p. I have been getting 7hrs of sleep each night, though (even w/ the 1 wake up)
During the day I am lucky to get 2 hours but at night DS sleeps between 2-6 hours. So we're still without a routine. Things are improving some since we starting having him sleep in his carseat and my breastmilk is returning to normal (I had mastitis and he HATED eating during and after because of the flavor)
Our routine involves 1oz out of a bottle mixed with his probiotic given by DH, then I nurse him until he's full. Then he gets swaddled, put in his carseat, and the sleep sheep turned onto rain. Some nights I read to him some nights we don't - if he's really refusing sleep and fussy I'll read for certain, otherwise it's hit or miss.
ETA: He's 6 weeks old and we start getting him ready around 7:45pm

He's 12 weeks old... naps are an hour if we're lucky.
If we get 6 hours at night, we're lucky. This kid loves to eat.

Ditto this, basically.
We start around 8 usually and hope to have her down by 9. She will wake up between 3 - 6 and then sleep again til 7 - 9. I feel really lucky to have such a good sleeper. I was worried at first that she slept too much.
She kind of came this way. At first, we didn't have much of a routine at first and would just take her up to bed with us around 10-11. There were a few nights with crying until 1 and hten waking again at 3. But that lasted only a few nights.
DD is 10 weeks. She has about 2 or 3 naps during the day. Naps differ each day.. sometimes they are 1 hour and sometimes they are 2-3 hours. These are sometimes in her carseat, swing, or next to me on the bed.
We settle for nighttime around 11pm and she is asleep by midnight. She wakes-sorta about 5 or 6am and I just latch her and she feeds and falls back asleep. She then sleeps until 8 or 9am. We bedshare, so she is right there next to me all night. Works best for us.
Our baby went from 3 hours to 5 hours the very first night we started using the Johnson's bedtime bubble bath. The commercials claim it is clinically proven to help infant's nighttime sleep.
She is up to 6-8 hours now. There is no way I can go 8 hours without pumping, even with tylenol. I'm working on reducing the amount I pump in the night slowly. Ugh my boobs are tingling just thinking about it. I probably sleep 5 hours- after she goes to bed I wash her clothes & bottles and clean up from dinner, so I'm not going to bed when she is.
3-5 wks about 6 hours.
5-7 wks about 8 hours.
Week 7- growth spurt! 4 hours max.
Since - 9-10 hours, and then back down for a couple more hours.
She naps about an hour at time, 4 times a day.
