DD stopped taking morning naps around 12 months. She'd go down for the night around 6 and wake up around 7am happy as can be. About a month ago she started waking up earlier and earlier--now we'are at about 6AM--and she wakes up crying and crying until we go get her. She's ready to play at 6AM but by 8:30 she's rubbing her eyes so I've been putting her down for a nap, which she doesn't even fight, she's out in 5 minutes and sleeps for an hour. I feel like we just went backwards! I tried adjusting her bedtime (both directions, earlier and later) and she still wakes at 6AM and still needs that AM nap.
Anyone else have this happen?? Is this just a phase?? I've been thinking it has somethign to do with her getting teeth (she's cutting 2 incisors and 3 molars, ouch)....
Re: The disappearing/reappearing morning nap!!
My DD has been doing the exact same thing for a couple of weeks now! I also think it is related to teething....but am hoping that it passes soon....
Hang in there!
This has been happening to me as well. She used to sleep from 7:30pm to 7:30 am. Recently, she has resisted going down for the night and is still waking up at 7:00-7:30am. This wouldn't bother me, except I can tell she isn't well rested.
Like your situation, my daughter rubs her eyes and wants to go down for a nap shortly after waking. I have tried keeping her up and just putting her down for one nap. That was a disaster.
It's very frustrating seeing your child grumpy and out of character. My daughter just started really showing signs of teething. I have suspected it for weeks, but I wasn't certain. Hopefully they'll pop through and she'll go back to normal.
It's nice hearing that I'm not the only one!
