help! bottle issues + bfing @ 6 weeks

So my LO decides he no longer will take a bottle! What can I do? I was using the Tommee Tippee brand just fine since he was 2 weeks old, he's now 6. So it appears he has hit that 6 week growth spurt everyone posts about...so I'm wondering if he is just so hungry that all he wants is me? I need him to be able to take a bottle bc I am going back to work the last 4 days of the school year and of course, for in the fall! Any ideas/suggestions? Did anyone else's LO do this?

  • He may just not take one from you. Try leaving the house for a little while and letting DH give him a bottle and see how that works. Of couse it could be partially because of the growth spurt, or you may want to try some different bottles.

  • Medela has a new bottle called Calma. Its suppose to be the closest one to breast feeding. I'm going to get one in the big city (I live in the middle of no where) this weekend and try it out.

  • DS generally doesn't want to take a bottle from me. On occation he will but for the most part DH gives him the bottle and I feed exclusively from the breast. It could be that and it could be a growth spurt.

  • DS #1 wouldn't take a bottle either.  I would try a different bottle, make sure the bottle is very warm, and make sure LO is really hungry.

  • There are lots of things to try!  Try some different bottle types for a start.

I could never feed my LOs from a bottle.  DH had to do it and I had to be out of the room or else they could smell me and the milk!

You could also try to make 1 feeding consistently bottle fed so it isn't so sporadic.

You could start with a breast to get his initial thirst down and then try to switch part way through the feeding.
