I have had such bad heartburn all the sudden that I feel like I live on them. Ice cream helps, but I can't really eat ice cream at 9 am...well at least not in public. Anyone have any other suggestions to help with heartburn?
On my bottle of Tums it says that pregnant women should not exceed 5 a day. I think you can take Zantac but you should talk to your doctor for a recommendation!
I have also heard that apple cider vinegar helps if you are looking for a natural remedy - my yoga teacher told me to put a teaspoon into a cup of tea....or make salad dressing with it. I haven't tried it personally though.

I better double-check my bottle, luckily I tihnk I've only been taking about 5 a day anyways. I'm gonna try the vinegar thing
I used Tums initially, until my heartburn went phyco on me and I was in hell- or at least my throat/chest was burning there... Now I take a Prilosec OTC everyday and it has been a life saver.
My bottle didn't mention anything specific for pregnancy, other than to check with a doctor before taking.
My doc told me Zantac once a day should work all day. I've been doing Prevacid/Prilosec (don't remember which) each day when I get home from work. It usually lasts me through morning, which is good.
I went to a class where the midwife suggested almonds. I thought it was strange but it really works! I keep some by the bed now for when it wakes me up in the middle of the night. Just a few raw almonds work as well as tums for me.
I have an ulcer and was experiencing heartburn in my first tri. My gastroenterologist actually told me to eat Tums like candy if I need to. He also said that if it didnt help, he would prescribe something, so maybe that's the route you need to ask your doc about...
I get horrible heartburn from time to time. I was eating tums like crazy for a while, now just once in a while. A little bit of soda seems to help me too. It hurts going down but helps within minutes.
Someone just posted the other day that coconut water really helps her. I am picking some up at the store tonight to have on hand to try next time.
