Hi there! My daughter is 2 years old and we are ready to expand our family. This Friday I am having my IUD removed and we'll use protection for a couple of months to let my cycles get back in the swing. When I had my daughter I had to be induced. Although I didn't have pre-e, I did have dangerously high blood pressure, and as I was a day before my due date, my Dr decided this was the best thing to do. I ended up pushing for 3 hours after nearly 24 hours of laboring. After she was born I thought everything was fine, but the Dr had an odd look on his face. My placenta wouldn't detach, even after having him try to do it manually. I ended up having to have a D&C and didn't get to see my new baby girl for hours later. I found out later that I didn't have what would be considered a "normal" retained placenta. Like just a piece stuck in there. My placenta was completely embedded in the walls of my uterus. My Dr has told me that I could have trouble not only conceiving but also carrying a full term baby due to scarring. My only option for childbirth will be a planned C-Section, due to the amount of bleeding I had. My question is has anyone else had this? Did you have trouble getting pregnant or carrying a baby to term? Its been difficult for me to find any information online and I guess I'm hoping for some reassurance. Thanks!! Amber

Amber, I don't have any advice either...since this is the TTGP board, a lot of the women on here haven't had any experiences with child birth. A lot of us are still trying for our first. I'm so sorry that you had to go through all that. It sounds like it was a scary experience, to say the least.
You might try posting this on one of the babies boards where all the women have recently given birth. Someone on there may be able to help you, or may have possibly had a similar experience. I'm not saying you won't be able to get any good advice here, just that ALL the women on the babies boards have given birth and might be more equipped to address this. Best of luck to you Amber!

My situation is similar but different at the same time. Please don't get scared by my experience!! Just want to share with you...
My DD who is almost 2 (in august) was born at 31 weeks. Dr still has no clue why, was a pretty normal pregnancy. Anyway the Dr who delivered left part of the placenta in(I guess it's pretty common in preemie deliveries). I had no clue until a month later when I started hemorrhaging. Thankfully I was in the hospital nicu visiting my DD. I had to have emergency blood transfusions, and a D&C.
Fast forward to now. It took 3 cycles to get a BFP, then I M/C at 6w4d. I wonder if it had anything to do with my whole ordeal? The Dr. did tell me I may have trouble 2nd time around. Again pls don't let my M/C scare you!!! Good luck and my T&P are with you! : )
Thank you! I will post this on another board just to see. @kdruffles, that is what I'm really worried about. I too had to have a blood transfusion and Dr said it could be difficult to get pg again due to the scarring. Well, ok, not to get pg, but to hold onto the pregnancy. I have read about retained placentas like yours before, but haven't been able to find a thing about one like mine. Leave it to me to be different!!
My Dr said he's never seen it before either. Today, before my IUD was removed, he was white as a sheet! "Why are we removing this??" He was funny and very relieved that we'll be planning for a scheduled c-section for the next one. I'm lucky that I have a great team of Drs that I see, and I feel like I can talk to them about anything.
Well! We're going to use protection for the next 3 months to get my cycles on track and then we're TTC!! I'm going to post this somewhere else to see if I can get any other input. Thanks to all who responded! And sheesh! I hope I didn't terrify anyone!!!
