I feel like a bad mom. I can't seem to get my LO down for naps unless I place her in her beloved swing, and then she's out for a nice stretch. Even if I put her in the swing for a little while and then transition her into her bassinet, she wakes up and stays up, even after rocking her.
What do you guys do? The swing is such a crutch - I don't want to keep doing this.
Re: What are your tricks/techniques to putting LO down for naps?
My LO is so young all he does is nap. However, I'm worried about the swing becoming a crutch too. He's happy as a clam in that thing and fusses when it stops swinging. I've never managed to get him to nap anywhere but there and on one of us.
This. But if I can tell he really needs a nap, I swaddle him with arms out, and put him in his crib.
Based on what I've read here on the Bump, I'm pretty much following the EASY method, though I'm not 100% sure as I've not read up on it.
So, when she wakes, she eats, then we do an "activity" (i.e. I read to her and/or sing to her and/or put her in her bouncy seat etc..), then when I see her eyes drooping or she yawns, I swaddle her and put her in her crib. Sometimes she falls asleep before or during our "activity" and I put her down already asleep.
As I said in an earlier thread, this works probably about 75% of the time.
I'm following EASY right now too, although when I get to the "S" part, there's no way of doing it other than swing time, even though I know she's tired or even overtired. Boo. It's like her eye lids fly open the minute her head hits her bassinet.
