LO is 11 weeks and will only sleep 2-3 hours at most. He's got colic and reflux and he used to wake up every 2 minutes throughout the night and cry. Now he usually sleeps pretty good for at least 2 hours, but has to eat every 2-3 hours....usually 2 1/2 during day and night. He is so hungry all the time. I tried giving him more formula, but it doesn't matter. He will eat 6-7 ounces if I would let him, but I give him 4 b/c he spits up so much and b/c he weighs so much he doesn't need more than that. He wakes up alot during the night b/c he needs to burp...do to his severe reflux. He takes naps during the day too about the same way.
Any way to get him to go longer b/w feedings? I try to hold him out as long as possible , but he screams bloody murder until he gets food!
Re: only sleeping 2 hours at a time..ugh!
Mackenzie needs to sleep inclined and also needs to be held upright after feeding. If you aren't doing these things yet, then I would try them.
Is your LO sleeping in his crib? I put a pillow under the mattress to make an incline. My pack n play has an incline option... you could also try sleeping in the carseat?
He's on Levison gas drops and zantac. He sleeps up in his boppy or usually on his belly. I burp him usually twice during feedings and then keep him in inclinded position after feedings for usually 30 plus minutes. Doc has no rec'ds she said he's just a colicy baby
Right now he's been sleeping in his PNP on his belly. Doc said it was ok since he spit up sooo much, and its the only way he will sleep. I know the risk of SIDS but I think it's the better option for our situation. He sometimes sleeps w/ us in the bed or with me in my chair when he's real sick-he had double ear infections last week so needless to say, he was crying nonstop and it was just easier to put him in the bed w/ me and hold me.
Will they change the dosages of his medication? DS's pedi won't give any prescriptions because of new research so I don't know how it helps. I do know that DS has to be held upright pressed with his tummy against my shoulder for atleast half an hour and that sleeping in his car seat helps some. Our next step, if things aren't better in the next week or two, is to run all the medical tests. Have they done the barium study yet or an ultrasound?
