I do not have 2 under 2, but I thought that maybe some of you had some experience with this. I have a 4 month old and a 3 year old and they share a room. My 3 year old is a good sleeper and sleeps from 8pm-7am. I would like to move DD into her crib and out of my room. Right now we have her back and forth... she falls alseep in her bassinett in my room then I move her into the crib (with DS) after DS falls asleep. I find that I am running in to soothe her every time she makes the slightest noise because I am worried she will wake DS#1. Not sure how to make this transition work. Any advice? Thanks so much ladies!
Re: Anyone with LO's that share a room?
We did in the first few months (we bedshare with the oldest, and the baby was in the bassinet by our bed). They never woke each other up, even if they baby was really fussing.
You can try a white noise machine to drown out the sound of the baby crying.
This is my reply to the post below:
We waited until DD was 6 months, and STTN to move her in with DS. We also kept a pack and play set up in our room "just in case."
They actually did quite well together - DD would go down first and she falls asleep quickly. Then DS would get ready for bed and by the time he would go in, she was fast asleep. DS plays around and talks going to sleep but rarely woke her up. DD would occasionally wake up and cry overnight for her paci, and she would rarely wake up DS. There were nights where their timing of crying was not good....and they would wake each other up. Those nights were not good, and usually involved 2 children in bed with us, at least for a little while. Then DD would move to the pnp in our room and DS would go back to bed. We just bought a house where they will have their own rooms (not living there yet), but we are not sure how that will go...we are worried that they will miss each other and not be able to sleep in a room alone. It is all what you get used to! Also, we did run in and comfort DD so she wouldn't wake DS up as well...if we had to go in more than a couple of times, she would get moved back to our room in the pnp so I didn't have as far to go. That didn't happen all that often...mostly when she was teething! Good luck!
