I was reading all the comments on the earlier post about resenting our husbands' freedom and it got me thinking about a freedom my DH does that I really resent: he can go to the bathroom by himself. I know this sounds like a joke, but seriously, it is not. DH takes forever in the bathroom. And I don't mean in the shower. LOL. I know everyone has to do their business and sometimes it can take a while, but, not even counting going pee, DH goes like 4 times a day every day for 20+ mins each time. It irks me because he always takes reading material and I know it would take less time if he didn't have some sort of entertainment in there. Now he always has his freaking iPhone so he can play games and surf the internet too.
I know this is ridiculous to be annoyed about, but on the other hand I think about how often I have had to hold it until I thought I wouldn't make it to the bathroom while trying to get DS to sleep; or about all the times I had to try to hold DS while I was on the toilet when he was small; and about how now I have to try to keep DS from reaching in the toilet, turning on the bathtub, unravelling and chewing on the toilet paper or playing with the toilet brush while I hurriedly do my business. DH's poos add up to over an hour of alone time each day. That's not exactly what I would want to do with my free time, but, hell, I'd take it!
Re: Really weird thing to resent
I hear ya.
I had to laugh and read your post to my DH because he was on the phone with me. It's so true.
Same at our house (but only once/day). Sometimes if I'm really crabby when DH gets home, I'll grab my book and tell him I'm "going to the bathroom" just to get behind a locked door for 15 minutes. I just sit on the floor and read. If I'm lucky, nobody comes banging on the door
