I never thought i'd be the headache wife..but let me tell you what! I have been super lucky with my pregnancy so far, first trimester..didn't break a sweat, no morning sickness...nausea..nothing. In fact i took a couple tests after my first postive because I didn't even feel pregnant..
Pretty much since week 12 i've had headaches, EVERY SINGLE DAY! Believe me I know our little orange (baby size this week) will be well worth it, but 25 more weeks of this! come on!! haha.
I drink a ton of water every day and try really hard not to take tylenol, but with a full time job..I feel like i'm taking it everyday!! any helpful tips mamas??
Re: Ohh the headaches...
Me too!! I have had no symptoms except headaches, which are my pregnancy nightmare because the only thing that ever cures my headaches is Excedrin Migraine or prescription migraine meds...I've been ok lately but I did have to cheat twice over the past few months and take Excedrin it was so bad
My midwife suggested putting peppermint oil on your pressure points, as well as drinking peppermint tea. Also, if you lay at the end of a bed, with your head hanging and have your SO pull your head it feels really good!
My headaches only lasted a couple weeks, around the same time frame. Hope you feel better soon!
I had such a bad headache today I almost threw up. I had to run down to the school nurse for tylenol. It was the first time I've taken anything other than my prenatal vitamin and folic acid, so I figure I'm okay. I just figured it was from my class of 2nd graders all screaming at the same time....I never considered it being a pregnancy symptom. I also know that I didn't drink enough water today, it's hard when I only have a 40 min prep and 25 min lunch to get everything done, eat enough, and get to the bathroom on the opposite side of the school!!!
I hope your headaches go away very soon!!!

I have been getting headaches too, but mostly when I don't drink enough fluids. I seriously can go all day with out drinking anything unless its in front of me.
I finally went this weekend and got a BPA-free nalgene bottle and starting taking it with me wherever I go, had helped a lot!
I've been a migraine sufferer most of my life, but I hadn't had one in a long time. Two weeks before my BFP I started getting really bad headaches and have had at least one a week since I found out I was pregnant.
I've noticed lately too that my sinuses have been out of control lately too. The only thing that I have found to help my headaches go away is one Sudafed (the red small pill), two tylenol and a coke, and if I can swing it, a nap. I had a pretty bad one last night and was ok this morning when I woke up, but when I got home from work and bent over to feed the dogs I could feel it coming on. I know sitting in front of the computer all day doesn't help, but that is what my job requires.
I hope you find relief!
FIORICET!! It's amazing-- it's the equivalent of Excedrin without the aspirin (a pregnancy no-no). It has Butalbital instead. Ladies with bad headaches, ask your doc about getting a prescription-- it's approved for pregnancy, unlike Excedrin.
ETA: Oops, I meant to quote ARobertson!
Be careful about using your disability now. I had to use six weeks for pre-term labor bedrest, and it turned out that time counted as part of my maternity leave too and I only ended up getting 6wks with my newborn
It wasn't like I had a choice, but I would have at least wanted to know this before!
GL with your headaches ladies. I hope that symptom doesn't sneek up on me! I am just now getting past the m/s!
I know all about the disability game, I am a disability case manager for metlife insurance company and that is what I do for a living LOL. I only intended to take the 6-8 weeks alloted after delivery which doesn't change. it would only matter if I intended to take unpaid FMLA after my 6-8 weeks which I don't as I can't afford to take time unpaid
UGH. You poor thing!!! Caffeine is one of the few things that help my migraines... I can't imagine it making them worse. Hang in there-- I hope your headaches get better soon!
It is amazing and very common that most employers don't explain their plans and people don't know them. I especially get tons of questions and pissed off mommies with pregnancies. unfortunately for the most part the employers pick the plans and we just administer them. when I get new pregnancy claims I try to explain it all up front to the person that way there are no surprises and they don't get as mad since I already gave them the info but most case managers don't do that. I learned early from getting screamed at!!!

THIS! This is what I was prescribed... ITS AMAZING!!! Seriously... I only take it when the headache begins (which seems to bein the mornings and early evenings). Makes me a teensy bit drowsy, but it is so worth it. I just cut back on the coffee since it has caffiene in it. Really is a wonder though.
I also feel like I'm taking Tylenol everyday, and it only slightly takes the edge off the headaches! I'm so frustrated with waking up almost every morning feeling miserable with these headaches! Im going to my Dr. today and Im going to ask if there is anything else that I can take! I hope we all get some relief soon!
But you are right it is totally worth it
Just sucks!
My Dr. gave me a script for Fioricet also. I have never had headaches so bad in my life! I have only taken them a couple times but they do help!!
Headaches are a second tri "thing" and they suck. Tylenol and a coke (real, not diet) are all that helped me last time. The HFCS in Coke is actually helpful to bad headaches, since its more 'sugary' than sugar. (I know this sounds weird but it came from my sister's nerologist when she was being treated for migraines.)
I know a lot of people are anti-meds but I personally think the caffeine and tynelol are better than the stress a headache puts on the body.
