DS get oatmeal in the morning with fruit and rice cereal in the evenings with veggies. How long do yow feed the baby rice cereal/oatmeal? Just curious if he should be "past" that stage right now?
We still do oatmeal in the mornings with fruit but we stopped at night and just give more veggies.
Are you doing finger foods yet? If so, how and when did you start that?
We are still working on that, she will do puffs (started at 7 mos) but most real foods are a struggle. She will do bread or tortillas (pea size) but not any fruits or veggies. We have her 9 mo appt on Thurs and I am going to ask about it. I am wondering if its a texture thing.
We stopped it pretty early on. Lucas was never really a fan of it. He did like the Earth's Best jars of oatmeal with fruit so he ate one of those every morning but the rice cereal or oatmeal in a box, we didn't do that more than a few weeks.

We started slowly mixing in stuff to the oatmeal about 2-3 weeks after we started. Maybe about 4 weeks after we started we dived into the other solids.

we didn't ever do "baby" oatmeal because he's always liked his food chunky. we do old fashioned on the stove oatmeal for the whole family and just adjusted his additions.

I know this probably isn't the norm, but we continued oatmeal once a day until ds was about 17 months for a couple reasons:
- it was something he would actually eat!
- he is picky about meat so we wanted to be sure he was getting enough iron in his diet
At our last appt. pediatrician reminded us that he can get basically the same iron content in cheerios, so we make sure he has those on a daily basis and we got rid of the cereals.
We continued with baby oatmeal until after one year because I was EBF and was terrible about giving her vitamins. So I figured the vitamin supplements would help somehow. Now we give her regular oatmeal.
