Baby Names

What do you think of the name Kelsey?

My husband and I really like the name Kelsey, but are 2nd guessing our decision.  What are your honest opinions on the name Kelsey for a girl?  Any suggestions on a middle name?

Re: What do you think of the name Kelsey?

  • I don't like it. I don't think it sounds very pretty at all. Every Kelsey I've ever met has either been a ditzy bimbo, or completely void of any personality whatsoever (and I've known like.... eight).

I honestly think it's a terrible name.  Sorry.  I don't think it sounds pretty, and I don't think it ages well.

  • Ya, ditzy sums it up well.  It just doesn't age well in my opinion (though there are certainly far worse out there), and you get a few points for spelling it correctly :)

  • eh, i think it's a cutesy name.  to be honest, we loved the name a few years ago when we found out we were pregnant.  we ended up having a boy though and now the name is really just NMS anymore.   i just don't know if it ages well.

  • I know two and they are smart and accomplished women.

However, the K sound is a bit harsh to me so it turns me off. I am more of a soft feminine name type of person.

  • I think it is really cute on a 2 year old with pigtails.  On an adult, not so much.

  • I like it, one of my closest friends has a 16yr old daughter named Kelsey that I have known since birth. And she's not ditzy or void of personality.

Foster to adopt process started 8/2012:)
  • Seems dated to me.  Maybe because my favorite babysitter in the 80's was named Kelsey.
  • Makes me think of the philanderer Kelsey Grammer.

I have a cousin named Kelsey. Love her to pieces. BUT I remember when we were younger she asked me what I thought of her name and I told her that I thought it was a "little kid name" lol. So Even tho I dont mind the name, I dont think it ages well. But IF YOU like it, then use it!

  • Too cutesy. It's no different to my ear than Kylie or Kaylee or Lexie or an of the other childish -ey names.

  • I like it. I have an employee in her early 20s named Kelsey, it fits her well. Now if you spell it Kelci or something, not so much.
  • I like it.

I should add however, that I like it so much we named our precious, spunky, adorable little dog Kelsey 5 years ago!

  • Every Kelsey I've known has been very nice and pretty. I like the name. All of them are in their 20's and it seems to have aged just fine with them.
