Transitioning from RnP to Crib...

DS starting going 8+ hours between feedings for a few nights so I decided that maybe he was ready to transition to his crib. WRONG! I am heading back to work on the 23rd and DS will be going to daycare where he will NEED to sleep in a crib. I didnt want the staff there to hate me right off the bat so I thought I would start transitioning him to the crib myself (I am the mommy....it is my job right?) Last night he did great from 9:30 until 12:30...then after that all hell broke lose. We were up every hour putting a binky in....calming him down...re-swaddling him....YIKES! Our household was not a pretty place this morning. At 5:30am I finally gave in and put him in his RnP next to our bed JUST so I could get some sleep.

Has anyone else already taken this journey?? If so, will it be ok? I guess I just need some encouragement to stick with it and that I am "doing the right thing"

 Any help/advice would be great!!!

We transitioned DS from him RNP to his crib this past weekend and so far so good. I don't know if I have any advice although I think part of the reason it has been so easy is because I took the mattress from our guest room and put it on the floor next to his crib and slept there the first two nights (last night I slept in our bed and it was fine). Just keep trying it will get easier, maybe start with naps in his crib. We did that and I think it made night time sleep in there a little more familiar for him. HTH

  • We started out with just daytime naps in her crib for a couple weeks before moving her to her crib at night time. I think it was easier for her, and easier for me.

  • We've started with the daytime naps in the crib as well.  She's doing okay, though I am doing the binky-run all naptime, too.  She sleeps on her tummy for naptime, we haven't tried back sleeping in the crib yet.
