Stay at Home Moms

And another thing

I know mother's day was over a week ago, but this is still bothering me.  The day after mother's day we had the ILs over for a MOTHER'S DAY dinner.  I'm cutting up broccoli when my MIL comes in to the kitchen and tells me how proud she is of DH for being such a wonderful father.  Now, my H is amazing and I know this.  I do not take this for granted, I tell him this all the time.  But this was my first mother's day, I did all the hard work (pregnancy, L&D).   My H did tell me he appreciated me, but for MIL to say she is proud of DH and go on about what a wonderful father his on mother's day just hurt my feelings.  There is a day for that... it's called father's day.

Maybe she was saying thank you for making her son a father?  I don't think her saying he's a good dad is worth being upset over.  Sorry if your MD didn't go as planned, but it sounds like MIL was being nice, not trying to annoy you.

  • I understand that feeling!!! Even if I know that my MIL is being nice(half of the time) she annoys me OMG I just can't stand her in a wrong mood(my wrong mood). I have to "prepare" myself mentally to see her so I tell myself ahead of time to ignore what she says(and she will say something stupid as usual). But thankfully she annoys my DH as much so he understands me and always thanks me for interacting with her, lol)
  • I can see how it would bother you since/if she did not say one thing about you being a good mom. My MIL always says that we are both such good parents and DS is lucky to have both a loving mamam and daddy who love him. She could at least have said something like that. BUT I'm sure she was not trying to be mean at all, like pp said she probably was just saying thanks for making her son a dad and a mom is usually excited to see her baby grow up to be a good parent.

    This is totally me :)

I bet since it was Mother's Day, she was thinking about being a mom herself, and probably thinking about raising her son and how proud she was of him turning out well and being a great dad. That's probably all it was :) Though it would have been nice of her to acknowledge you in there as well!
