Cloth Diapering

Grr-Daycare & CDs (kinda long)

We've been using CDs exclusively at daycare since the beginning of October (He only goes 2-3 days a week now). We use aplix Kawaii with a flushable liner and a Grovia wetbag. DS is still in the same class with the same teachers as when he started and they've never said anything negative about the CDs.

This morning when I dropped him off, there were a few sposies in his cubby. I though nothing of it, and figured someone else's cubby was too full so they put them in his since he's not there everyday. I went to put a few of his dipes in there and moved the sposies out.  Then one of the ladies said, "PLEASE bring some of those disposable diapers. Those [cds] are nasty with poops." I just smiled and said "we haven't bought any of those in forever." She walked out of the room to get DS's breakfast so I told the other lady that they can just stick the whole diaper (poop and all) in the wetbag and I'll deal with it when I get home. (They usually put the wipes, liner, and poop in a small plastic sposie bag and throw it in the trash with the sposies and then put the CD in the wetbag). I told her I didn't mind that at all because we don't even use the liners at home and it was no problem for me to clean them. She kinda turned her nose up and said "I'm glad you use liners here." I just said "We don't mind poop" and then I told DS bye and I left.

It really pissed me off. They've been doing them for over 7 months and have never said anything negative! WTH?

Sorry so long, I just needed to vent. Any advice?

  • Were there sposies in his cubby b/c they're putting them on him w/o your permission?  If so, that's certainly not okay.  You have your reasons for CDing.  Did they tell you at the beginning that CD was okay ?  I'm sorry that they're being difficult.

I don't think they're using them on him. The number of dirty diapers in his wetbag is about the same as it's been being, and it matches his sheet where they write the diaper changes. They usually use about 5 a day. I don't get how they're any more nasty than a poopy sposie!

They're more nasty than a poopy sposie if the DC people are putting liner, wipes, etc into a seperate bag. All that handling is sure to be gross. Just ask them to ball the whole poopy thing up and put it in your wetbag.

They wear rubber gloves when they change diapers. And I did mention that this morning, I just don't know if they will do that. I guess we'll see today.

  • Ugh, what a pain.

I told my daycare to just fold them up and put them in the wetbag from the start. We never tried liners (and we have a septic system at home anyway.) They've had no trouble fortunately.

She's come home with a sposie on once, but I have a few in the bottom of her daycare bag and she went through a ton of diapers that day. That's what I leave them there for, in case we have a very dirty diaper day.

  • That sucks. Could you bring an extra wet bag for the poop diapers? That's what I do. They don't complain about it because all they have to do is shove everything in one bag and stick it in his cubbie and forget it ever happened. Still, weird that they would say something now.
