Cloth Diapering

Overnight update

Last night, I tried my Nifty Nappy Heavy Doody with its insert plus a hemp doubler and a pair of Etsy shorties.    FAIL.  At the 1AM feeding, I had to change wet sheets.  Finished off the night with a BG stuffed with 2 hemps and no MF.

I'll try the TT with hemp tonight and Woollybottoms.

Re: Overnight update

  • Oh no :(

KUP on how the TT works tonight.  I'm new to having a tummy sleeper and having her leak every night now is definitely not fun.  I hope you're able to find a solution soon.

  • Let us know how the TT does. I have never had a leak with my tummy sleeper in a TT.  What kind of PJs are you using? When I use a wool soaker I use fleece PJs, it adds an extra layer of waterproofness. If I am using thin cotton PJs, then I use a PUL cover.  Its getting much hotter here so I have been doing the thin PJs more lately.

  • PJs - thin zip up footies.  We're in FL so nothing too heavy.

  • I really like my TT for overnight with my tummy sleeper.  I also love the Sbish snapped fitteds because they have the extra soaker.

  • Do you have interlock wool soakers? I only use interlock (and heavily lanolized) because I don't feel like my WB would be enough for overnight, they seem much thinner than my WCW or WLW interlock soakers. And I wash with lanolized wool wash and then use a spray lanolin through the wetzone for an extra boost of protection.

  • No, my soakers aren't interlock.  The soakers were actually dry except for around the waist.  Everything's running out the top.

  • I have a super soaker and NOTHING worked until I tried a Sandy's by Motherease Bamboo fitted.  They are not cute and super bulky, but it's the only thing that worked for us.  I put that under a thirsties cover and we have not had a leak since!  They are pretty cheap too.  And if you end up needing more absorbency, they're kinda baggy(they have great elastic though) so there's pleanty of room for more doublers.

He sleeps in it for about 11-12 hours with one middle of the night feeding (sometimes 2) and he wakes up with some spots still dry.

I've suggested this to a couple other moms (In real life) of super soakers before, and they have all said they LOVED these fitteds for bedtime.

Oh, those are a good price!  I should cash in some KC points.

  • I love my TTs but there's no way we could make it through the night with one.  Sbish sized snapped with the extra doubler will work ok as long as we have a double layer wool interlock soaker over top. A GM goodnight with a folded Sbish babmboo fleece doubler works the best; we can use any kind of wool (handknit, woollybottoms footies, etc.) over top and not get leaking.

ETA --> we tried the Motherease Bamboo Sandy's and I had to stuff it with so much hemp and bamboo to get it to work DS couldn't even roll over.
