I posted about this a few days ago.

There was an investigation done and the mother has lost custody. The little girl is in custody of cps.

I hope the poor thing gets therapy to deal with some emotional issues from all of this.

wow. There were no family members who could take her? That's so sad. I mean, it was F'd up what that mother was doing, but it's the child who's suffering now being removed from her family. I'd think they could put her with another family member, or just have some sort of supervised "probation" for the mother or something... assuming the botox was the only abuse going on of course. I'd think pull her from the pageant circuit and get them some counselling and parenting classes. And investigate the hell out of the other kids in the pageants. That mom said it wasn't uncommon. which is sick.

CPS isn't about justice, though. It's about finding a safe environment for children, whether it's by providing services to improve parenting/home life or by placing them with a new family.

I hope that the little girl gets the care and therapeutic intervention that she needs.

I hope they can find family that can take her. I have never been involved in the foster system, but I can imagine it would be sad.

There were "rumors" that she also waxed the child's legs to "prevent" body hair. They mentioned this in the news video, but I guess the mother was also waxing other areas including full-on bikini waxes.

I just hope she gets help. It makes me sick.

This makes me so upset. I'm sorry, but people who think that this child should be in the custody of CPS have no clue what that means. I can think of a dozen other ways that this child could have been helped that wouldn't require this young girl being removed from her mother. It is incredibly damaging for a child to be removed from a parent's care and we (society/gov't) have an obligation to try and work WITH families to address these concerns prior to yanking a child out of a home. I didn't watch the clip from the Today Show but I fail to see how this child was in "imminent danger."

I hope that it's just a temporary measure to appease the public and that mother and daughter receive the therapy they both (appear) to need. I'm always shocked at some of the 'pagent' attitudes that are out there and that there aren't more consequences for parents raising their children in that culture. But then they probably don't agree with my parenting either. I just hope this is a wake up call for the mother....

Amen. I classify the mother's actions as abuse, but nothing compared damage done by pulling the child away from her family. The research there is pretty unanimous, and I've sadly seen the results first hand too many times.

Is it standard for them to pull the kid from the parents during a pending investigation? I wonder if that's what's going on? ANyway I feel awful for this poor girl for so many reasons.
