Follow-up/Second Time Mom+ Question

For those of you that said this baby nurses quicker.  Do you think it is more your knowledge, the baby or maybe both?

I can't decide lol

  • Quicker, as in, feedings take less time? I don't notice any difference. Both kids were/are very fast eaters and were from the very beginning.

Not me, it's aaalllll the kids' faults! But I won't lie and say that it's not great because feedings that are 5-10 minutes are awesome.
  • I don't think P nurses any faster than Q.  I do think that we are both a lot more comfortable than Q and I were, and that I attribute to my previous experience/knowledge.

For me,though, it's like comparing apples and oranges.  They both nurse(d) for about 5 minutes at each feeding, but Quinn had severe reflux and nursed constantly.  I mean, every 1-1.5 hours round the clock kind of constantly.  Piper rarely even spits up, nurses every 2-3 hours and sleeps through the night.  She tends to have a longer session first thing in the morning and nurses more frequently until noonish, then goes longer between feedings until she goes down for the night.

  • I haven't read your other post but DS2 nurses way faster than DS1 ever did (5min every 3 hours other than the evening session, which is a bit longer vs 30 min every 2 hours). I think in our family it's all due to the baby. I think it's funny that DS2 likes to snuggle way more than DS1, maybe they like it the same but it feels different because DS2 eats so fast :)

  • I think it's a difference in kids for me. D was more attached to nursing and me in general. It was basically him and I his entire infancy and toddler-hood (another story... sigh). I was definitely more relaxed this time, but I don't think it plays as large of a role as the child.
