Do you have a TV in your bedroom? we do but it broke. DH thinks we should get it fixed or buy a new one. I could careless. I'm pretty pissed because the TV is only 2 years old.

Also do your kids have one in their room? nope

We have one in our bedroom and our LO isn't yet born but likely won't have a TV in his room until at least elementary school, if not later.

  • no and hell no.

only two activities happen in our bedroom.

and my kids are practically amish...They rarely use the computer (it's in the living room - they share one old PC) and watch TV maybe twice a month.  and no video games (they play at their friend's houses but we don't play them at home).  I don't allow electronics in their rooms - phones included.

Ditto on the no and hell no.  we have one tv, we will only ever have one tv.  Its shared space.  No personal computers/tvs/etc in bedrooms.  not gonna happen.

  • ugh... yes and yes.  hanging head in shame.  Cruz's tv started out in there because dh and I would watch it while rocking cruz for hours to sleep.  I will say though that he rarely watches it, mostly when he is sick.  I would die without the one in our bedroom!!  I love to lay in bed and watch tv before bed!

  • No and No! We have one tv in the living room, plus we don't even have cable or antenna reception. DD does have a CD player in her room to listen to CD's.

  • We have one in our room and watch it every once in a while. Our children will not have one in their room. Once they are old enough to have their own money, if they want to buy one, we'll let them, but that's the only way they'll have a tv in their room.

  • We just got one for our bedroom because we are putting the new elliptical in there. I wasn't adverse to the idea to begin with because I prefer to stay sequestered in bed when I'm sick.

  • Yes, we do!  I've had a tv in my bedroom since 7th grade.  I mostly watch it when getting ready to go somewhere or, now and then, before bed.  DH was used to no tv in his room, but now watches before bed a few times/wk.  We have only basic cable in there, but also a DVD player.

Our kids can have one if they pay for it themselves.  That's what I did, in 7th grade.  I always had a tv and then, eventually, cable and a VCR, in my room.  My sister and brother did the same, growing up.

I don't have a problem with it.  However, I really don't want my kids to have computers in their rooms.  I hope to find a way to set that up in a more public area when we get to that point.

ETA: I should add that, even all the years I lived alone, I always had 2-3 tv's (bedroom, living room, and office).  Right now, we have 3: bedroom, living room, family room.

  • We used to, but I demanded it leave the room when we bought new furniture. We hardly ever watched it, but DH would fall asleep to it sometimes.

My kids will never have tvs in their rooms. Unless they can buy it themselves.

  • Do you have a TV in your bedroom? Nope, a rule of mine. We have enough excuses to not have sex, we don't need another one.

Also do your kids have one in their room?   nope, and I dont plan on them having one.

  • We do have a TV in our room but since we bed-share, I don't watch it much at night these days. :)  I also had a bedroom TV since I was 13- only basic cable, though.  Literally the only thing on at 5:30 when I woke for school was EWTN (churchy channel) so I had my TV alarm go off to some old pastor guy to start my mornings. ;)  C will probably not have one in her room (no cable jack), or at least not til she's much, much older.

  • Nope and nope. We talked about having one in our room when we first moved in together and I said no way, so that's how its been since then ;)

  • No and no.  I also have a no TV in the LR rule... I never owned a TV before DH, and I would have prefered not to have one at all.  I get all my TV from Hulu and NetFlix anyways.

  • We don't have a tv. Once in a blue moon we will take the laptop in and watch something on hulu or Netflix. Mostly I am excited because we can read in bed and talk to each other without whispering now that L is in her own room.
  • We don't, and the kids won't.

  • Technically there is a TV in our bedroom, but since we got rid of cable it is useless. We really haven't missed it. No in Max's room and it will stay that way.

  • No, if anything we watch movies on a laptop.

They will never have a TV in their room. At most we will get a separate monitor set up for kids computer/video games but that will be in a common area when they are teens.

    Mama to Z - 5.5 years, G - 3.5 years, & M - 1.5 years.
  • We have one in our room and I hate to admit that we (mainly I) watch it way too much.  But DH watches the downstairs (family room) TV way more than I do.  We don't have a TV in the living room, so if there wasn't one in our room then we wouldn't have one upstairs at all.  And I'm much more comfortable lounging around up here than in the basement.

I didn't have a TV in my bedroom growing up - no way that would've been allowed.  I finally got one on my own my senior year of college.  At this point I can't see any reason why Lila would need/get one in her room while living at home.

  • Nope on both fronts, for the same reasons that everyone else posted.  We don't have cable/TV service either, just a computer hooked up to the one TV in the family room to stream Hulu and Netflix on.

  • Nope and never.  We might get one in our room, eventually, but we'll never put one in the kids' rooms.

Nope and nope. We used to, but when we moved we decided we didn't want one in our room anymore. We have one tv in our house and it is just for watching dvds as we do not have cable. I hope to keep a tv out of C's room as long as possible.

  • Do you have a TV in your bedroom? Yes. But I usually only use it for background noise while I'm getting ready. Before kids we occasionally watched an adult movie.Wink

Also do your kids have one in their room? Nope. They probably never will until they are in their teens. We do have a playroom upstairs with a tv that Connor gets to watch while I take a shower.

My confession though..I'm a TV addict. I even have one in the kitchen I watch while cooking dinner Embarrassed

I prefer to stay sequestered in bed when I'm sick.

Pre children this was my favorite way to spend the day if I was sick...or if I'd had a *really* long week and DH was working on a Friday night.

    Kids won't, though.

  • We have one in our bedroom.  We like to snuggle & watch movies.  I also nurse in our bedroom so I like to watch tv.  My DD won't have a TV in her room until she is older maybe Jr. High.  We will see. But No computer in her room!

We are in the only one TV camp and it is in the living room. We've never had a TV in our bedroom, I've never had a TV in my bedroom.

Max doesn't need his own TV, and I can't see him needing his own TV until he is a teenager.

  • We do but it only gets turned on once in a blue moon.  We barely turn on the living room one as it is lately as we have zilch free time.  The bedroom one was really just to solve those arguments when we both really wanted to watch separate shoes and couldn't compromise.

As for K's room, no and probably not ever.  It's a holdover from my childhood.  My folks could not have afforded a tv for all five of us kids in our rooms, so it was a luxury item.  DH didn't even have a tv growing up, so he sees it the same way.  It's just not something K needs.

And side note: as far as computers in kids' rooms go, NO NO NO.  Take one internet safety class and you'd agree, shudder.  It's not even just the predators, but the info that kids leak out innocently.

  • We do have one in our room which we turn on maybe 2x a week.  Sat morning we turn on Super Why while we lounge in bed.    (the only TV the kids actually watch outside of Friday night movie night)  and Saturday night DH may turn on Saturday Night Live.

I never had a TV in my room, so don't think the kids will either.  although...Audrey has asked lately when she can have one in her room...no idea where that came from!

  • Do you have a TV in your bedroom? Yes we do, although I usually only use it to listen to the news in the morning while I get ready for work.

Also do your kids have one in their room? DD1 does; however the only time she will usually watch it is if she has friends over. If she doesn?t have a friend over she never wants to be in her room unless it is bedtime. She has basic cable in her room

DD2 does not but she most likely will when she is older.
