Trouble TTC

XP: Update: cause of m/c

Hi ladies! This is a post and run. Just wanted to let those of you who asked know what the results are of the chromosome analysis we had done after my m/c.  It came back as Trisomy 16, which means that my egg had one too many copies. There is no reason it should happen again, and our RE feels confident that we have the same chances of a normal pregnancy as regular couples. I?m glad to know what caused it, but I pray it doesn?t happen again. The chances are very slim. So we are staying confident and looking forward to our cycle in June when, we?ll hopefully do our 2nd IUI.

So sorry for your loss.  ((HUGS))  I know it doesn't help with the pain of the loss, but hopefully knowing the cause wasn't something that has an increased chance of happening again puts your mind at ease as you approach IUI #2.

I'm glad to hear that chances are very slim that the same thing will happen again.  I know I've said it like 10 times, but I'm very much looking forward to you joining me on the tri boards SOON!

  • Hey, we also had Trisomy 16.

Just to clarify, the baby had one extra copy of chromosome number 16, (so three instead of two).  It is incompatible with life and it is a random occurence.  It's not genetic and there's nothing we could have done to prevent it.

    Good luck next time!
