Weight loss motivation - need some!

Because clearly, my pants getting a bit tight isn't enough!

Seriously, how do you motivate yourself? I can complain about lack of time and a billion other things but really, it is all a bunch of lies.

Re: Weight loss motivation - need some!

  • Lately, being too busy to eat 2nds for dinner has helped.  I never used to like eating fast, but two busy kids makes leisurly meal times a thing of the past.  And, I've found a couple classes at the gym that I love and am willing to go to anytime they have them.  I'm even willing to leave work early, pick my kids up and take them to the gym during their witching hour to get me some Zumba time.  Looking at my fat a$$ in the gym mirror and realizing I look nothing like the girl teaching the class helps to keep the motivation up too.

  • Perhaps you are goal oriented (I would say from what very little I *know* of you) and I think having a goal event is a great way to get motived.  ie Sign up and train for an event, be it running, biking, walking something.  Plus you are in the LA area if I am not mistaken they have got to have fun, out-of-the box fitness events that you can set as a goal.  Plus it's pretty dang fun, in my opinion.

Right now, the fact that I am going to be in a bathing suit most of the summer is my "Come to Jesus"!!!

  • Well there you go!  Your boys need a confident, fit momma!  You can do it.

There is no coming to Jesus in my current state.  Don't think I will be seen in a bathing suit outside of my own pool, or by anyone besides DH and DS this summer.  For me it's true: girl pregnancies steal your "beauty."

My problem is our "pool" is at a condo. Can't get out of the public thing. And it is true - I want to be healthier for the boys. They tire me out and it isn't going to get any easier!

  • I second the sign up for an event you have to train for...a 5K, whatever.  Spend the money, put it on your calendar, and AW yourself to all your friends and family that you will be doing it.  That will make you feel accountable for it and guilty when you don't do the "training" you need to do and don't want to feel like a slacker since you told everyone you were going to do it.

Also, I've found the calorie tracker on myfitnesspal.com to be pretty good and opening my eyes as to how much I was eating and having a goal.  Just by using that for the past 2 weeks I've lost 6 lbs.

  • I am usually not a group fitness type person but I started going to zumba 2 months ago because my running routine was dull, boring and making no difference. First, it is a serious workout but it is also a social thing. If I miss a class because of work travel or something- people always ask where I was so I feel more pressure to go.

I just signed up for this.  It's awesome!  I loved how it just told me that if I eat and work out every day like I did today, I will weigh XXX by mm/dd/yy.  It seriously makes me want to work out again tomorrow.  and I will definitely not be skipping my work out tonight!

  • I agree definitely with signing up for an event. DH and I signed up for a 5-K this weekend and did the Couch to 5K program for the last month or two. It was a great motivation. All three of us will be running this weekend. It's going to be a challenge doing it with a jogging stroller, but DH and I will be switching off.

  • im loving zumba too but i cant seem to get the weight off yet because i get to eat with DH who's training for a swim bike run event. His requests for high carba nd high protein meal plus company for dinner is just killing my routine. And dont forget the soda and dessert.

this morning, someone even asked me if i was pregnant. ***BOOO***
