taking LO to the dentist

there's been a few posts here and there about this and I just saw a little blurb in Parents magazine that I thought I would share

seeing a dentist sooner can also save you money in the long run: a UNC study found that kids who had a checkup before age 1 had the lowest average dental expenses over five years ($263); those whose first preventive visit came between ages 2 and 3 had an average cost of $449

it may not be what the dentist is doing and it may just be that parents who take their kids earlier are more proactive about dental care and thus have fewer expenses but I still found this interesting

interesting! We found a kids dentist that came highly recommended by several girls I work with that is covered by our insurance. I just made the appt last week and it's the first week in June. We get 4 cleanings a yr with my insurance and I usually only use 3 of them (most insurances I've had only cover 2). I figure if I take Bella 4 times a year she'll be totally comfortable with it but we'll see!

  • Interesting! I took Brooke to the dentist a few weeks ago. She cried the entire time, but the hygienist laughed and said she was a silly girl because even though she was crying, she opened her mouth so the hygienist was able to clean her teeth, count them and put fluoride on them.
