Post D&C ?'s

I had a d&c on Saturday and hardly had any bleeding after it, mostly just brown spotting. However, today I have started bleeding bright red. Is that normal? How long did it take for your regular cycles to start back up again?

Thanks for posting this because I need this info too. I had a D&C on Friday and I've just started really bleeding today also. I hope it's normal!

I just spoke with my nurse and she said it is normal to bleed off and on for a while. She said that if it seemed super heavy and not normal that I needed to come in, but mine isn't.

I had a d&c last Wednesday and am still bleeding red. Actually, I'm bleeding more now than I was a couple days ago. I'm not really sure what's normal though. I ended up losing a lot of blood, needing a blood transfusion, and spent a couple nights in the hospital. I was given methergine several times in the hospital to help stop the bleeding and was told my bleeding probably wouldn't be heavier than it was when I left the hospital, but it is. My last day at the hospital I just had light spotting, but now it's more like a light-medium period. However, the doctor said there is no need to worry unless it gets very heavy (soaking through a pad or more an hour). My understanding is that it should stop within a couple weeks.

After my d&c I had light spotting for a few days, then heavy flow (like a period) for a week. I got my normal period a month after the d&c so I only had about 2 weeks of no blood.

i am sorry for your loss. your bleeding sounds like mine. on the ttcal board there is a blog and a poll of how long it took for people to get their periods but I just got mine and I had my d and c on april 7

D&C on 4/21 ... I had bleeding for a day or two then it went to brown spotting for 2 days and i just got AF yesterday

I'm so sorry for your loss. I had the same experience after my D&C, spotting then bright red light bleeding for a few days. From what my doctor said and what I've read on this board, it's very normal. As for AF, it started about 5 weeks later.

So sorry that you are going through this too!

I had my procedure three weeks ago today. At first I just experienced light brown spotting and then I experienced actual red blood with clots about a week after. It scared me so much! It looked like a period. I called my doctor because I was so concerned and they said that it was just the lining shedding and it was nothing to be concerned about.

Unfortunately I am still experiencing light brown spotting (very frustrating) but my doctor also said that it was nothing to be concerned with unless it turns to bright red and clots at this point (now 3 weeks later).

Unfortunately my experiences with this horrible situation is that there is no normal and that your body will just do what it wants to do when it wants to do it. I would definitely recommend contacting your doctor whenever you are in doubt because that brought so much peace to me.

so sorry for everyone going thru this, i am in the same boat. my d&c was two weeks ago today (blighted ovum at around 9 weeks). the first three days was only minimal brown spotting and then it turned to bright red with clots for about a week, the past 2 or 3 days it has dwindled down to light spotting again - i am thinking im almost done with it *fingers crossed*. it is so hard to move on when the reminder is there every time i go to the bathroom. i am hoping to get AF on time using the d&c date as LMP.....we will see.

so 2 weeks post d&c i am very lightly spotting no cramps etc, (not sure if this has anything to do with things) but i have been working out a lot, running and walking around 3 miles most days, drinking lots of water and i am a vegetarian - just trying to give you ladies some insight on me and my healing- i know how confusing this whole thing can be... good luck to all of you! we will all get through this. xoxo
