Queasy but not throwing up?

Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this and if this is part of morning sickness.  For the past week, I've felt queasy and nothing sounds good to eat, but I haven't actually thrown up.  This feeling lasts pretty much all day and even though I don't feel sick enough to stay in bed, it bothers me enough to make me not want to do anything - even things I typically enjoy!  Anyone else?

Re: Queasy but not throwing up?

  • i pretty much have felt the same way for a couple of weeks. queasy, hate food but no actually vomitting. i have heaved a few times but mostly just feeling queasy and light headed.

it sucks but i feel lucky to have not thrown up yet!

  • Definitely m/s.  I actually haven't thrown up at all yet (knock on wood!) but I have an almost-constant feeling of nausea that puts a damper on everything.  I find I feel better after I eat, even if nothing sounds good or I have no appetite.  Try crackers if you feel really bad, those usually go over pretty well for me.  Good luck!

  • Yep, this is me. I have only thrown up once. I feel gross though, pretty much every day all day. It is worse if my stomach is empty so I am always eating.

  • Ugh. this is EXACTLY how I've felt past few days. I have yet to throw up but the day I hit week 9 I was like super bloated and felt full even though I hadn't ate anything and then when I do eat something I feel like I just gorged myself. I'm at work and super irritated because I feel exactly how you described almost to point of throwing up but not yet and not sick enough to go home. So you're not alone! It will all be worth it in the end! :)

Yup. Mine started at 5 weeks and has stuck around ever since. I am queasy all day, gag, dry heave (I've had to stop on the side of the road a few times but all I ever do is dry heave), and nothing sounds good enough to eat. It is torture. I've only thrown up once.

With DD, I had all day vomiting for about 3 weeks and then it disappeared as quickly as it came on. I'm thinking that that was more manageable than 5+ weeks of all day nausea.

  • This is the story of my life. I've only thrown up once, but I am queasy all day everyday.

  • This is what I have... especially if I am hungry.  I feel better while I eat, but after I feel crummy again.  I have never thrown up while pg, I am just not much of a puker... so I am guessing that is why.

  • Yes, I have definitely experienced this. I have had on & off queasiness since my 6th/7th week and it tends to be worse at night, but I haven't thrown up at all. I don't know if it's because I don't tend to throw up a lot even when I am sick, or if the throwing up part is still on its way (I'm pretending it's the first...I hate throwing up!)

  • I've been feeling queasy every day since about 5 weeks.  It's not so bad in the morning, and then gets progressively worse as the day goes by.  I've not thrown up, nor do i have any dry heaves or anything.  I don't feel bad enough to stay in bed all day, but I don't feel good enough to do anything.  The only time it seems to sort of go away is when I'm eating.  as soon as I'm done eating though, it's back.

  • Yes- that's totally normal.

  • Ah yes - and from I've been told by my good friends - we are the lucky ones - no vomitting just constantly feeling like we would rather spew but never quite getting there.  How this is better is really beyond me at times.

Mine started in week 5 and has only let up for a day here or there but for the most part - nothing tastes the way it should and having killer allergies this year is NOT helping at all.

  • This has been me since week 6.  It's pretty much non stop and I have no appetite.  I gained about 4 lbs the first few weeks but I've gone back down to normal since this has happened.  I'm not enjoying it but like you said, I feel lukcy to not have puked yet.

  • Yes! This is me too.  It's like a hangover all day, everyday.  I almost wish I would just throw up, even if it just made me feel better for a little while.  It started at 6 weeks exactly and I still have it, although it is starting to get a little better everyday.
  • That is exactly how I've felt the last couple of weeks. I have on occasion thrown up, but mostly I just feel like I'm going to.  Just want to lie down all the time.

  • I think you are reading my mind. What you've described is exactly what I am experiencing. I have felt queasy all day every day for the past 3-4 weeks. I got some sea bands a few weeks ago, they helped a little but not much. Dr gave me some preggo pops, those work better, but sometimes I feel like I need to keep one in my mouth at all times. I know that its a good sign to have m/s but I can't wait for this phase to be over!

This is totally me, although mine starts around 9 and lasts until about 4 or so.. so pretty much my entire work day! Gotta love it! Oh well the baby will be well worth it, it just makes doing anything very difficult.

  • Exactly.  I've had occasional bouts of queasiness that are very uncomfortable and off-putting, but have yet to vomit.

My mother was the same way with both of her pregnancies.  Let's just count yourselves lucky that we're not actually throwing up.

I have found that walking helps to ease any queasiness I have.

  • This is me too.  I have yet to throw up and I'm super excited about :)... I would say this all started about 5 wks into it for me.  Where the thought of food would make my head spin... I would help DH cook (actually, mostly sit at our breakfast bar and watch) and it would smell great! Plate it up, take 2 bites and I was done. I must say that at week 11 it's getting better to eat... I only have that upset/queasy feeling around lunch time.

Like a previous poster said I find that fruit helps specifically oranges/apples.

  • I felt the same way from week 6 to week 8 and it has subsided but comes back every once in a while, usually when I'm hungry or dehydrated. I didn't throw up at all though.
