I had my shower this weekend and my friend who threw it for me gave me the best gift ever.... ever!!!
She gave me a little book she had found at a church book sale last month. It was a little Chip N Dale book (the chipmunks, not the dancers!) but on the inside of the book the girl who used to own the book had written her name in it. It was my sisters book! It had my sisters name in her handwriting on the book! The reason this was so beyond special to me is because my sister was murdered 4 1/2 years ago! She was actually murdered 2 days before I gave birth to DD. This book will go on a shelf in DS's room! To see my sisters handwriting in that book was the best gift I could ever receive!
Re: The best baby shower gift ever!
Wow, what a touching and inspiring gift, for one, give and two, even find.
I am sooo sorry for your terrible loss and I cannot imagine what heartbreak it must have brought you and your family still to this day. I am so happy you can find a little peace in the gift you received this weekend. How special!
Wow! Now that is universal karma/serendipity if I ever saw it. It's so special that this LO will grow up with that book around.
Your friend must have been beyond thrilled to be able to give that to you.
me too. What a great gift

What a godsend! I think that was a gift from your sister as well
How incredibly special!
I was thinking the same thing
I agree... this isn't the first thing she has done to let me know she is still with me since I found out I was pregnant. At her funeral I picked the song Far Away by Nickleback to play. Since the day I found out I was pregnant I have heard that song every single day at least once since then! I know it was a popular song but it's not that popular anymore!
Wow, very touching!
Yes, that's why she got it, just because it had her name in it! It's crazy because my mom said she doesn't remember donating any of our books, so Jodi must have donated it herself before she died!
That is such an awesome gift.
Personally, I don't think I would have been able to recover after opening that at a shower though. I most definitely would have lost it.
