Washington Babies

need some fashion help for photos

Okay, ladies, we have E's 6-month photos coming up.  Help me find some clothes!

DH is a man and can just wear some solid-color polo or an easy button-down and dark jeans, right?  I have a few ideas for what to put E in - I've got two different pink dresses, some cute jeggings, a turquoise/navy/white print wrap dress (aka cute baby stuff coming out of my ears).

Then there's me.  I'm good with jeans/shoes, but otherwise I feel like I have nothing to wear.  I'm also cheap out of necessity.  Think Old Navy, Gap, maybe Macy's pricing.  I do have a $50 GC to Nordstrom that I've been saving for finding something to look great in after having a baby.  Remember that I'm short and curvy, so don't send me pics of things that would look good on stupid Keira Knightley.

aaaaand go!

  • Are you looking for a dress or a cute top?

  • I think the easiest way to do it is to pick baby's outfit first and then go off of that for color/ style. I also think about what "mood" etc the pictures will have from what we are wearing. I love the look of layered clothes in pictures, esp for outdoors. Dont be afraid of color! Where are you getting them done?

Either a dress or a cute top is fine with me.  Maybe an excuse to get both?!

We're doing pics outdoors somewhere.  My friend Kristen Honeycutt is taking them (she did our newborn pics).  I found links for the two dresses I'm thinking about putting E in: this blue one or this pink one (thanks to my generous FIL!).    However, I'm not completely averse to buying another outfit for her, since we've hardly bought her any clothes anyway.

  • I've found really cute dresses at Nordstrom Rack- Wrap style dresses that you could wear with leggings and boots.  Check out my photos from December on FB for an idea.

  • Have you ever been to Romy in Northgate?  It's all really reasonably priced stuff.  We were just there yesterday and everything in the store was 50% off.  Don't know if that's still going on, but it'd be worth a call to them to find out.  I got a really cute dress and a little cardigan, shrug thing for less than $40 total.

Yes! and when I was there they had some adorable floral print skirts.  Some were a little short but throw on a cropped legging and some flats and a solid color T or cute button up and you'd be set.

I like both dresses for E but the blue one would be a little easier to dress with and not compete with patterns.  Plus I love the blue and black combo and a black pair of mary janes and she'd be adorable.

  • What about this one? I think the brown one would be cute with the pink dress. It'd be cute with jeans and some cute boots.
