I have some old stuff that is either broken, mismatched, or I just don't wear it anymore. I am looking to sell it for a little extra cash. Has anyone done this? Any recs on where (or where not) to go? I'm on the east side, but willing to travel.
TIA!
Re: Selling gold jewelry?
Okay, now I want details...
So do I. Can you FB message me if you don't want to share them here?
Thanks for all the advice ladies!
Ok, here is the story. Keep in mind we dealt directly with the owner, John.
We took some items to get an insurance quote. He gave us a price to complete the quote. But when the quote was ready, he raised the price, but acted like he didn't, saying this was the price we agreed on. Upon picking up the quote, we actually realized that he didn't finish the quote either (did not include all of the items).
So the first time we thought, maybe there had been a misunderstanding. A few months later we decided to sell some items. We took the items to JS and to a place in Hyde Park. John gave us a quote for the items. We bought them back the next day. John did not honor his quote from the day before. Even more appalling, he didn't tell us he wasn't honoring the quote. He tried to slide it by us, as if we wouldn't notice. When DH pointed out the discrepency, John said "Oh yeah, I forgot you are an auditor".
So based on our experience, I don't feel that he runs an honest business. We now go to The American Trading Company (americantradingco.net), and I will say we also sold them some old jewelry, mostly small stuff from old boyfriends and such, and I was surprised how much they gave us.
Hope that helps.
